Disaster Calendar 2011 – August 8 Entry
- London, U.K. The riots have spread across London, Scotland Yard reported. The violence erupted 3 days ago after a protest calling for justice over the fatal shooting by police of a local man in North London last week.
- The rioting and looting have spread to at least a dozen boroughs throughout London, as large crowds of unemployed and disaffected youths (and some criminal elements) continue to run amok venting out their frustration.
- The violence has also spread to other major cities in the U.K. including Birmingham, England’s second most populous city after London, Bristol, Liverpool and Manchester.
- Ironically, London has poured tens of billions of dollars ($32.7 billion US) into its Olympic wet dreams as worsening poverty, alienation and social malaise in Britain’s inner city areas spiral into uncontrollable violence.
