  • China. Up to  a million people evacuated as Typhoons Saola and Damrey strike east China.  Typhoon Damrey, the 10th typhoon of the year, struck east China’s Jiangsu province, while Typhoon Saola targeted  Fujian province with rainstorms, punching gale force winds and forcing about a million people to evacuate their homes. Up to a third of a million people have since been relocated.
    • The storms also affected Shandong and Zhejiang provinces.
