Thousands killed or injured, five million affected in Pakistan’s extreme monsoon flooding

Extreme monsoon flooding in Pakistan has left about 500 dead, thousands injured, hundrdes of thousands displaced and 5 million others affected.

  • Floodwaters have submerged vast areas in Sindh, Punjab and Baluchistan provinces since August, killing about 250 people in Sindh province alone, reports said.
  • The victims affected by the mega flooding include 1.4 million children who are “experiencing devastating flooding for the second or third time over the past three years, and these new floods have disrupted their recovery,” said UNICEF.
