Deadly winter storm impacts much of U.S., as arctic air, snow and ice engulf East Coast
Several inches of snow is forecast for the Mid-Atlantic into Southern New England and the Great Lakes for Tuesday through Thursday, said the National Weather Service (NWS) in its latest forecast.
A new round of arctic conditions will drive temperatures well below average across the country through Thursday, said NWS.
The winter storm cut power to tens of thousands of homes and businesses on Monday, and forced thousands of flight cancellations or delays.
Parts of Maryland, Pennsylvania and New York state received up to 10 inches of snow through Monday morning, said NWS.
Hundreds of crashes reported from Texas to Pennsylvania, resulting in scores of injuries, as the storm-related death doll reached at least 18.
