2. Figures in the bracket represent the probability of an incident occurring out of 1,000; the forecast duration is valid for the next 50  months.

4. A nuclear incident is defined as a level 5 (Accident With Wider Consequences), or worse, on the International Nuclear and Radiological Event Scale (INES). See below.

What is a lethal dose of radiation from a single Exposure?

Studies of the 1945 atomic bombing at Hiroshima and Nagasaki show that 100 percent of victims whose bodies were exposed to 600,000 millirems (6,000 mSv) died from radiation. About 50 percent of victims who received  450,000 millirems (4,500 mSv) of radiation also died.

1 rem = 10 mSv or 10,000 µSv  (1 Sv = 100 rem)

“The Constitution was being violated on a massive scale”

“And that’s something the public ought to know about”

“The interpretation of the Constitution had been changed in secret from ‘No unreasonable searches and seizures’ to, ‘Hey, any seizure is fine; just don’t search it,” said Edward Snowden, former National Security Agency contractor. “And that’s something the public ought to know about.”

So far we’ve been listening patiently to Mr Snowden, but some of the things he’s now saying make little or no sense.

The Government has been violating the Constitution on a massive scale  long before Mr Snowden worked for the NSA. Take the massive violation of the U.S. Constitution in the December 1998 bombardment of Iraq (code-named Operation Desert Fox), which was a prelude  to occupying the country illegally, for example.  And when the U.S. forces began their illegal occupation of Iraq in 2003,  Mr Snowden was 20 years old. [He joined the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) as a systems administrator and telecommunications systems officer three years later, in 2006. Editor]

Speaking from Russia on Monday, Mr Snowden told attendees at the SXSW Interactive conference in Austin, Texas that encryption was still a powerful deterrent against NSA mass electronic surveillance. [No doubt Google, Microsoft, Oracle  and the likes, the knights in shining armor, would come to our rescue. Editor]

“There is a policy response that needs to occur, but there is also a technical response that needs to occur,” said Snowden. “It’s the development community that can really craft those solutions and make sure we’re safe.”

However, most people with the average knowledge of using emails and Internet have little or NO idea how to use encryption. Besides, whatever can be encrypted can just as easily be decrypted.

Cocooning Effect

Where Mr Snowden fails big time to convince us of his mission to inform the uniformed is his interpretation of the U.S. Government. He wants us to believe that the government exists in a vacuum; they are the bad guys  who violate the Constitution.

Where was Mr Snowden all this time? Was he living in a cocoon, or does he believe his audiences are?

Who exactly is the Government? What exactly is it made up of? Can the government exist in the absence of corporation? Is it the 4-year-at-a-time government that runs the country, or the “permanent” establishment?

Mr Snowden has previously touched on the commercial nature of the NSA data gathering, but has failed to enlighten us on the connection between the “corporation,” “establishment” and NSA.

NO Lesson Learned from the Great East Japan Earthquake

The so-called ‘Great East Japan Earthquake’ was a magnitude 9.0 (Mw) shock, the most powerful earthquake ever to have hit Japan, and the fifth most powerful earthquake globally in modern record.

The 3.11 Earthquake, centered at 38.322N, 142.369E was an undersea megathrust earthquake off the coast of Japan that occurred at 14:46 JST (05:46 UTC) on Friday 11 March 2011. The hypocenter was at an underwater depth of about 30 km.

The earthquake spawned powerful tsunami waves that reached heights of up to 41 meters in Miyako,  Iwate Prefecture, and traveled inland at least 10 km in the Sendai area.

The massive shock moved Japan’s main island of Honshu 2.4 m east toward North America and shifted the Earth on its axis by an estimated 10 to  25 cm.

The quake and tsunami double action left up to 20,000 people dead or missing (presumed dead), and more than 6,000 injured across twenty prefectures; destroyed  about 130,000 buildings, left a further 275,000  buildings  seriously damaged, and another 750,000 buildings partially damaged.

The earthquake and tsunami also caused extensive damage to the infrastructure in north-eastern Japan, including severe damage to roads and railroads, sparking fires in many areas, and causing a dam collapse.

“In the 65 years after the end of World War II, this is the toughest and the most difficult crisis for Japan,” said the then Prime Minister Naoto Kan.

Ongoing Fukushima Nuclear Disaster

The tsunami triggered by the Tōhoku earthquake on March 11, 2011 hit the Fukushima I Nuclear Power Plant, causing a catastrophic failure, resulting in meltdowns at three of the plant’s six nuclear reactors.

The meltdowns became  the largest nuclear incident since the 1986 Chernobyl disaster measuring Level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale. More than 300,000 people evacuated the area due to the radiation.

To date no short term radiation exposure fatalities have been reported, however, up to 2,000 deaths related to the evacuation conditions have been recorded. The exact cause of most of the  evacuation-related deaths remain unspecified.

On June 11, 2011 in Japan’s Nuclear Industry: Mega Disaster in the Making, FIRE-EARTH noted:

In the hand of the Japanese ruling elite who own, operate and invariably fail to safeguard the country’s nuclear industry, the atomic plants have turned into weapons of mass destruction.

Japan’s ruling elite are the remnants of the same diabolic regime that painted the entire region red with human blood in the last century.

Japan MUST now be disarmed and its nuclear “weapons” removed BEFORE the next Mega Quake strikes the country.

The world community must force Japanese authorities to decommission all of their nuclear power plants forthwith.
