IS TWO AND A HALF MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT
For the first time in the 70-year history of the Doomsday Clock, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists’
Science and Security Board has moved the hands of the iconic clock 30 seconds closer to midnight.
The Doomsday Clock is an internationally recognized design that conveys how close we are to destroying our
civilization with dangerous technologies of our own making. First and foremost among these are nuclear weapons,
but the dangers include climate-changing technologies, emerging biotechnologies, and cybertechnology that could
inflict irrevocable harm, whether by intention, miscalculation, or by accident, to our way of life and to the planet.
For the last two years, the minute hand of the Doomsday Clock stayed set at three minutes before the hour,
the closest it had been to midnight since the early 1980s. In its two most recent annual announcements on the Clock,
the Science and Security Board warned: “The probability of global catastrophe is very high, and the actions needed
to reduce the risks of disaster must be taken very soon.” In 2017, we find the danger to be even greater, the need
for action more urgent. It is two and a half minutes to midnight, the Clock is ticking, global danger looms. Wise
public officials should act immediately, guiding humanity away from the brink.
If they do not, wise citizens must step forward and lead the way.

‘Up Is Down’: Trump’s Unreality Show Echoes His Business Past
“We’ve never seen anything this bizarre in our lifetimes, where up is down and down is up and everything is in question and nothing is real,” said Charles Lewis, the founder of the Center for Public Integrity and the author of “935 Lies: The Future of Truth and the Decline of America’s Moral Integrity,” a book about presidential deception.
“Intelligence agencies should never have allowed this fake news to “leak” into the public. One last shot at me.Are we living in Nazi Germany?” –DJ Trump
