Mass evacuation as “historic” rain and high wind batter Japan, “violent” typhoon approaching

More than 210,000 people have been ordered from their homes due to the danger of deadly flooding and major landslides in western and central Japan.

Additional rain is forecast to hit already saturated areas through Sunday, raising the danger of more landslides and major damage, according to local news quoting the weather agency.

The extreme weather system has left more than a dozen people dead or missing.

More than 2 million more were advised to abandon their home and seek shelter as of Friday afternoon, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency has said.
