Airbus Pakistan Crash Update

NO SURVIVORS!

Pakistani officials have confirmed that all 152 people onboard the Airblue Airbus A321 plane were killed after the airliner crashed near Pakistan capital Islamabad killing dozens

Earlier reports of up to 40 people having survied the crash were fictitious and poor reporting by major news agencies.

Based on Airbus crash fatalities of 99.5 percent, NO survivors should have been expected.

Plane Crash Kills 104 in Libya

BREAKING NEWS

The Afriqiyah Airways flight from Johannesburg to Gatwick, UK, crashed in Libya, killing at least 104 people on board

The Airbus 330 carried at least 93 passengers, and 11 crew. Most of the passengers are believed to have been British and South African nationals, while the crew were reported to be Libyans.

“Afriqiyah Airways announce that our flight 8U771 had an accident during landing at Tripoli International airport,” the airline said on its website.

“At this moment we have no information concerning possible casualties or survivors. Our information is that there were 93 passengers and 11 crew aboard. The competent authorities are conducting the search and rescue mission.”

The initial news of the crash was released by Al Arabiya television, citing official sources, Reuters said.

The statement posted on the airline’s website reads:

Afriqiyah Flight 771 crash

Afriqiyah Airways ,Announce that our flight 8U771 had an accident during landing at Tripoli International airport at 04:00 UTC. (06:00 AM Tripoli time) Today Wednesday 12 May.

At this moment we have no information concerning possible casualties or survivors. Our information is that were 93 passenger and 11 crew aboard. The competent authorities are conducting the search and rescue mission.

Further statements will be announced in due course.

UPDATE 12 MAY 2010 – 11:00UTC

• Sixty-one of the passengers were Dutch nationals
• A Dutch boy is said to be the sole known survivor (unconfirmed reports, however, Libyan Transport Minister was quoted as saying that the Dutch boy was being treated for minor injuries).
• Relative seeking information on passengers should contact: From Libya:0213341181 AND Intrnational:+44 203 3552737 Afriqiyah Airways website said.
• The cause of crash is as yet unknown, however, a Libyan security official told news agency AFP: “It exploded on landing and totally disintegrated [very close to the runway.]”
• Weather at the time of crash was “sunny and clear ” report say.
• The air distance between Johannesburg and Tripoli is 6,730km (4,181 miles).

Airbus Crash Stats

If you really have to fly because your life depends on it [sic,] and if you are flying an Airbus, then fly on odd days of the month because the Airbus is statistically twice more likely to crash on even days!

Fire-Earth Moderators verily believe that some of the victims of the doomed flight might have still been alive today had the  information concerning the safety record of Airbus 330 that is posted on this blog, but is invariably filtered and buried by Google, reached them.

Polish President Killed In Plane Crash

133 people onboard were killed in the crash, no report of survivors

The plane owned by Polish govt crashed near a military airport in Smolensk, western Russia, killing Polish President Lech Kaczynski and 132 others, Russian media reported.

Poland’s President seen preparing for flight to Lithuania on Thursday.

The plane, an aging Tupolev 154, flying from Moscow to Smolensk clipped treetops, fell to the ground, caught fire and disintegrated, Smolensk regional governor Sergei Antufiev told Russian TV,  adding that  none of the people onboard had survived the crash.

“As it was preparing for landing, the Polish president’s aircraft did not make it to the landing strip,” he said.

“According to preliminary reports, it got caught up in the tops of trees, fell to the ground and broke up into pieces. There are no survivors in that crash.

“We are clarifying how many people there were in the [Polish] delegation. According to preliminary reports, 85 members of the delegation and the crew.”

“The plane caught fire after the crash. Teams began attempting to pull out passengers from the badly damaged airplane,”  according to Polish Foreign Ministry in Warsaw.

According to various reports, citing the Polish Foreign Ministry,  the president was accompanied by his wife, Polish Army Chief of Staff General Franciszek Gagor, the country’s central bank governor Slawomir Skrzypek and dozens of senior officials and top military brass.

“The mobile phones of everyone who was with the President are no longer working, according to officials.” Pravda reported.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the plane crash was “the most tragic event of the country’s post-war history.”

“Mr Kaczynski has been a controversial figure in Polish politics, advocating a right-wing Catholic agenda.” BBC reported.

A political commentator, who wishes to remain anonymous, said to Fire-Earth Moderators, noting that the crash had been caused by pilot error: “Ironically, if  anyone wanted to stage a coup in Poland, they would have had to remove exactly the same set of people who were killed in the air crash.”

Air New Zealand plane’s cargo door opens midair, forces emergency landing.

Air New Zealand Eagle Air plane on a flight from Auckland to Wangarei this morning was forced into an emergency landing minutes after take off after the plane’s cargo door blew open at an altitude of about 200m.

Air New Zealand has reportedly apologized to the passengers, some of who may well have experienced heart attack type pains in their chests, and soiled their pants from fear.

Air NZ spokesperson said the passengers had been re-booked on other services to Wangarei, according to a report.

Air NZ Flight with Up to 400 People on Board Came Close to Another Disaster

“… everybody was quietly crapping themselves,” Air NZ passenger

Passengers on Air New Zealand flight 106 from Sydney (Australia) to Auckland (New Zealand)  were terrified when the pilot warned them to be prepared for an emergency landing as the flight approached Auckland airspace Tuesday night.

Air New Zealand Boeing 767-300 reportedly had a problem with it’s wing flaps, according to a report.

“… everybody was very quiet and rather concerned,” said passenger Kevin Donovan.

“It was pretty obvious that something was going on because we were circling … for quite some time.”

“Then the pilot came on and made a somewhat unusual announcement. He said, ‘For those of you who fly regularly, you probably realise something is up.’ And everyone sort of went quiet, like ‘what?’

“And he said they couldn’t open the flaps, and although that wasn’t going to cause a problem with the landing, the landing was going to be extremely high speed, therefore it was an emergency landing situation.” Mr Donovan said.

Passengers were told to remove their spectacles, if they wore one, and put them in the seat pocket, Mr Donovan said.

They were also instructed to read the safety instructions and “understand the best brace position”.

“And I think at that point, everybody was quietly crapping themselves.” He told the reporters.

“The jet seemed to circle for another 15 minutes, and then the passengers were told the crew had managed to partially remedy the problem, meaning it was no longer going to be an emergency landing.” The report said.

“It obviously meant a lot of relief for everybody, but when we came in to land, we came in pretty bloody fast still. There was a lot of clapping when the plane landed.”

“It was quite funny when they said, ‘Thank you for choosing the airline voted most popular in the world.’ Everyone sort of cracked up and thought, ‘Well, I bet it’s not so popular with these people on here right now’.”

The number of passengers and crew were carefully kept out of the report, but it’s believed the plane was carrying up to 375  passengers as well as a crew of 25.

The big scare comes less than two days after another Air New Zealand flight was involved in an emergency runway stop at Japan’s Narita Airport.

Another Airbus Caught Fire?

Airbus Engine Catches Fire in Orly, Paris

Eight people were injured when 165 passengers on an Airbus 310 stampeded toward the emergency exists after an engine suddenly caught fire as the plane prepared for takeoff.

Vueling Flight 9127, was preparing to take off from Orly Airport in Paris, France, heading toward Alicante in southeastern Spain when the engine caught fire at 10:36 am, on Wednesday.

“Before getting out, everybody was panicking inside the plane. When people heard about the incident, everybody was pushing each other to get out and eventually everybody went down the emergency slides,” a passenger told Associated Press.

“Jose Luis Casado, a representative of the Spanish carrier Iberia, which owns nearly half of Vueling, said that a ground employee spotted liquid leaking from one of the engines as it was starting. The employee sounded an alert, but the fire broke out soon after.”

The management decided to use the emergency slides to evacuate the passengers, Casado said.

“Of course, it is a very spectacular procedure because we use the emergency slides, we make the usual announcements, asking people to take off their shoes and leave their luggage on board the plane. It’s quite a traumatic experience for the passengers.”
