Spring-Like Storm System Targets Mississippi, Ohio Valleys Today

Kansas City, Mo., Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 – NOAA forecasters said a strong spring-like storm system will move from the Lower Mississippi River Valley into the Ohio River Valley today, bringing widespread precipitation to the eastern third of the country. The system will draw warm, moist, unstable air from the Gulf of Mexico, setting the stage for strong to severe thunderstorms over a large area of the southern Plains and Southeast. Up to 1-2 inches of rain can be expected over a sizeable area of the Midwest that had to contend with heavy rain and severe weather through the weekend.

U.S. COULD BE THE 1ST MAJOR COUNTRY TO COLLAPSE

Posted by feww on June 11, 2010

‘World cannot survive without a revolution’

A year ago to the date MSRB wrote [and Google censored—filtered, blocked, or buried:]

Not Just the US, world cannot survive without a revolution

Consider this:

1. About 92 percent of all economic activity goes toward maintaining a system that is destroying the very world our lives depend on.

2. Between us and a possible future stands a tiny minority that are actively destroying our chances of getting there. More…

America has very little time, if any, to put its house in order, before facing a major collapse.

Are things as bad as they look?

Posted by feww on May 1, 2010

You guessed it: Things are much worse…

Taking Stock of the Oil Spill, Energy and Climate Bills and the FREEDOM TO CHOOSE SUSTAINABLE LIFESTYLES

We are taught about individualism, individual freedoms and values. In reality, however, everything is decided for us well in advance.

How could we be free, if there’s corporate monopoly on everything?

We learn about the importance of diversity when it comes to other species, but we are denied the same knowledge when it come to learning about  humans.
We are en-shackled by the global economy, a prison made by the monetary system. All of our other nightmares are the derivatives of the system.

In a nutshell …

1. Our rulers have imposed upon us a method of doing things, a system of exponentially expanding human ecological footprint called economy, which is destroying the planet.

2. We have been prevented from researching, developing and ultimately opting for alternative lifestyles, sustainable means of running our everyday lives, with zero impact on the planet.

3. Coupled with the economy, an inseparable part of it in fact, is an energy policy that demands more and more fossil fuels, the production and consumption of which is destroying not only the climate, but the very air we breathe, land and water we feed from.

4. We have been hoodwinked into electing an incompetent and ill-meaning President, who’s trying to secure a second term in office by way of appeasing the giant corporations that have no concern other than maximizing their bottom line.

5. Some of those giants strap us inside vehicles that were made by other giants,  keeping each and everyone of us locked in on the wilderness of freeways, polluted roads and streets, so that we would burn the gas they sold us, going nowhere, several hours a day, each day.

6. We are blindfolded. How can anyone find out that the road map the giants have sold us goes nowhere and the destinations marked on them are non-existent? The answer is they can’t.

7. Disasters like the growing oil spill in the Gulf momentarily awaken us to the truth.  Even then, our realization of truth is ephemeral. The giants’ spin machine (our politicians), their agents of disinformation (the media) and other dark forces of information suppression (the Internet Mafia), prevent us from seeing, hearing, experiencing and ultimately making the right decisions by ourselves.

8. By all means then sue the giants. But don’t stop there because the Administration, media and the Internet Mafia deserve equal reaction.

9. Knowledge and information forms the basis of our decision-making process. Access to up-to-date information and knowledge of alternative  points of view can make the difference between whether WE and therefore our civilization survive, or becomes extinct.

10. A major mechanism of evolution is learning… Learning is facilitated by feedbacks. But the social feedback and all other feedbacks lines are short-circuited, corrupted, and converted into loops that come back to the same point over and over again. The giants have retarded the evolution of of human species. When species cease to evolve, they become extinct.  Right now the odds are heavily stacked against the survival of ‘Google Civilization.’

Nature’s ‘Deselection’ Engine Revving Up!

Posted by feww on November 16, 2009

submitted by a blog contributor

Thought for the Day:

You may be undergoing natural ‘deselection’ processes at such phenomenal rates you cannot imagine!

  • Are you insane?
  • Following the wrong road map?
  • Your systems too inflexible?
  • Organizations burdensome?
  • Your methods unsustainable?
  • Do your schemes fly in the face of nature?
  • Doing less with more, unaware of your impact on nature?
  • Choosing sight over right?
  • Lost the will to work in harmony with nature?
  • Killing the oceans and polluting the air and ripping the heart out of nature?

If so, then nature wants you—out!

As Human Assault on Nature Accelerates, Nature’s ‘Deselection’ Engine Revs Up!

You may be undergoing natural ‘deselection’ processes at such phenomenal rates you cannot imagine!

Why is that such a bad thing for most everyone else?

‘Collateral Damage!’

How do you avoid the collateral damage?

That depends on your ‘cost-benefit’ analysis!

  • How much money do you make?
  • How often do you fly?
  • On average, how many miles do you clock up per day?
  • What’s your electricity consumption rate?
  • What sort of food do you eat and how much?
  • How much waste do you leave behind?
  • How flexible is your lifestyle?
  • Do you support war?
  • How many people have you killed, or are being killed in your name?
  • Are you single or married?
  • How many children do you have?
  • Really, how much do you love your kids?

Nature Defaults on Hydroelectric Supply

Localize or face the consequences:
Brazil
Power failure plunges its largest cities into darkness

The US, EU countries, China, Japan and other energy dinosaurs WILL experience similar disruptions…

Another Warning Shot Fired by Nature:
Your systems are too inflexible

Remember the first time you heard the so-called Murphy’s Law?

“Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.”

Murphy’s law has no time vector! It doesn’t tell you when things WILL go wrong, and  it’s often quoted after things have already gone wrong. It does not incorporate the ‘observer effect.’ Nature is more organized than “Murphy” would have lead you to believe. Now hear this.

FEWW Amendment to Murphy’s Law:
If more things can go wrong they will go wrong about now!

… in the world’s major cities, hydroelectric dams, nuclear power plants, oil rigs, production and processing facilities, powerlines …

A name for this?
Blog Moderators call this phenomenon Secondary Interlude to Human-Induced Planetary Antiphase.

Philippines Extreme Rain from TS Ketsana

Posted by feww on September 29, 2009

TRMM  Image: Heavy Rains in Philippines

philippines_trm_2009270
Tropical Storm Ketsana dropped a month’s worth of rain on the Philippine capital of Manila in just a few hours on September 26, 2009. Streets resembled rivers, covered by water that was chest high and still rising. Soon, death tolls climbed from dozens to over 200, with more casualties expected and search and rescue efforts continued. More than 330,000 were believed to be affected. The flooding was the worst in living memory, prompting the officials to declare a “state of calamity” in Manila and 25 provinces affected by the storm.

The estimates, acquired by multiple satellites, are calibrated with rainfall measurements from the Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) satellite in the Multi-satellite Precipitation Analysis. The highest rainfall amounts—more than 600 millimeters (23.6 inches)—appear in blue. The lightest amounts appear in pale green. Gray shading indicates island topography of the Philippines.

Manila Flooding Could Trigger Quakes

Posted by feww on September 28, 2009

The Wrath of Ketsana

The wrath of Ketsana in the Philippines may not have ended.

Torrential rainfall caused by TS Ketsana, which resulted in epic flooding throughout western Luzon, may lead to yet another deadly hazard: Earthquakes.

Millions of tons of floodwater, massive landslides and unprecedented volumes of mud avalanches flowing in western Luzon could lead to regional  ‘climate-triggered’ earthquakes measuring about 4.5 Mw.

Ketsana, strengthened to typhoon force, is heading toward Vietnam

A handout photo released by the Philippine Air Force shows aerial view of flooded areas in Marikina City in northeastern Manila, Philippines, 27 September 2009. Up to 200 people have been killed with many reported missing as tropical storm Ketsana battered a wide area in Luzon, Philippines, dumping record rainfall (549 mm reported in one area)  on the capital that caused the worst flooding in living memory.  Thousands of people spent the night on the roofs of their submerged houses in Manila and surrounding provinces. The government weather bureau said the rainfall recorded in Manila was the city capital’s ‘greatest’ amount of rain since 1967. The weather prospects don’t look too good for Vietnam, and China’s Hainan Island. Both areas seem to have an uneasy week ahead of them. However, the worst of Ketsana may yet strike Thailand and Myanmar.

N Korea Nuke Test Confirms ‘GigaTrends’

Posted by feww on May 26, 2009

Submitted by Cindy A., and edited by FEWW

Our world is collapsing around us

‘The First Wave of World’s Collapsing Cities’

Our world is collapsing around us, thanks to our lifestyles. In  “The First Wave of World’s Collapsing Cities,” EDRO forecasts that by as early as 2012, the world could experience an irreversible wave of collapse caused by a number of factors including “failing ecosystems, human-enhanced environmental catastrophes; failing infrastructure; food, water and fuel shortages; infectious disease; war, civil conflict …”

EDRO says, after the first phase of collapse is triggered, “massive waves of human migration from the affected areas” moving to less affected cities “create a domino effect that causes the collapse of the remaining population centers.”

A list of about 50 or so mechanisms that comprise the “Dynamics of Collapse” is available here.

The Next Phase of Collapse: Wars initiated by Israel/US for Hegemony Over World’s Resources

The next phase of collapse, EDRO says, is dominated by intensified wars “initiated by Israel/United States,”  which are fought for the control of world’s natural resources.

“The wars for the Israeli/US hegemony over resources are about the survival of the fattest. They are fought by the urge to secure more of other peoples’ resources: More water, more food, more fertile land and more energy to maintain unsustainable lifestyles.” EDRO wrote.

The attempt by the isolated North Korea to intensify its nuclear weapons program must therefore be considered as move in the direction.

More Intense Wars would be initiated by Israel/US in a drive to rule the world

EDRO lists the following factors and phenomenon to provide a clear picture of where the world stands:

  • World’s resources are dwindling (competition for the remaining finite resources is rapidly intensifying).
  • The exponential growth economy and its two leading pathogens, overproduction and overconsumption, together with unsustainable lifestyles and unethical behavior are degrading the world’s remaining resources.
  • Climate change is affecting the availability, or access to resources.
  • Global rates of consumption of water, food and energy are exponentially increasing.
  • The consumption rate has long surpassed the sustainability rate.
  • The world topsoil is falling below the critical level at which point production declines sharply.
  • Two-thirds of ecosystems are collapsing.
  • Deteriorating local resources and food insecurity, economic uncertainty and poverty, political corruption and instability, among other mechanisms of collapse, result in the collapse of cities and population centers.
  • Cities, population centers and settlements are abandoned.
  • Large-scale migrations ensue at regional, national and international levels.
  • Large numbers of migrants put additional terminal strain on the remaining resources.
  • Nations outstrip nature’s carrying capacity.
  • Civil conflict and war break out.

‘Giga Trends’

Referring to ‘Giga Trends,’ the ultra large-scale trends that dictate how our world works (or doesn’t), Edro says, “the most likely scenario,” following the first phase of world’s cities collapse, is “an all-out global war started by Israel and the United States,” which would be fought with nuclear, exotic, biological and conventional weapons.”

“Without a complete change of direction in human activities, the economy and lifestyles, and based on the elite Zeitgeist, “World Spirit,” the available data and observed trends” including “History of civilization (past experience)”‘ ” Current socioeconomic developments (present trends)”, ” The exponential rate at which the dynamics of collapse are compounded (future events),” EDRO suggests seven “Giga Trends,” with and forecasts “the probability of incidence of each trend.”

The trends are termed End Game Scenarios, each with a probably of occurrence estimated by EDRO. See below:

End Game Scenarios

  • The Champaign Club Scenario. Water, food, shelter, sanitation, education, health and energy continue to be available at increasingly higher prices to anyone who can afford it. [ probability of occurrence: 9%]
  • The Gaza Strip Scenario. Majority of humanity is caged like animals, and kept under permanent military curfew. [ probability of occurrence: 6%]
  • Involuntary Mass ‘Euthanasia’ Scenario. More than 90 percent of world population is annihilated by the world elite via conventional methods such as genocide by starvation, ethnic cleansing, disease and poverty, or using biological and chemical agents including exotic depopulation weapons. [probability of occurrence: 17%]
  • A Sustainable Future Scenario. Humanity rapidly climbs the evolutionary ladder, reverses the exponential growth economy and opts for non-suicidal, sustainable lifestyles. [probability of occurrence: 0.5%]
  • Extraterrestrial Doom Scenario. Life on Earth becomes extinct [in the next seven years] when a large extraterrestrial object (asteroid or bolide) strikes the planet.  [ probability of occurrence: <1 in 4 billion chance]
  • Lifestyle Global War Scenario. A war fought to secure additional resources required for maintaining unsustainable lifestyles.  [ probability of occurrence: 63% ]
  • Large-scale Global Catastrophes. Sudden death (major species extinction) caused by multiple ‘natural’ factors (larges-scale volcanic eruptions, mega earthquakes, deadly pandemics . . .) or by ‘accidental’ factors (military scientists destroying the atmosphere, tests of superweapons backfiring, laboratory-made superbugs escaping . . . ).  [ probability of occurrence: 4%]

giga-trend scenarios
End Game Scenarios [Revised] The probability of lifestyle global war breaking out (before a major ecosystems collapse occurs) is about twice higher than the combined probabilities of all other possible scenarios that may unfold in the near future. [Source: EDRO]

The data provided by EDRO suggests that by far the most likely End Game Scenario would be a global “war fought to secure additional resources required for maintaining unsustainable lifestyles.”

What about the Sixth Great Extinction?

Would human race become extinct like dinosaurs? How would that fit in with the bigger picture? What would be the ultimate cause of human demise?

In The Fate of Energy Dinosaurs the author wrote: “In 2006 global energy consumption reached a staggering total of 507EJ [one exajoule, EJ, is 10 exponential 18 joules, 10^18J] equivalent to the energy released by detonating 25,437 Hiroshima-sized A-bombs each day, 9.3 million bombs throughout the year, or one A-bomb for every 700 people on the planet.] With more than two thirds of the ecosystems driven to the verge of imminent collapse as a result of intense human activity, which demands excessive energy consumption, it would only be a matter of time before total environmental collapse occurs committing the energy dinosaurs and thousands of other species to extinction.”

Can the world be saved? Could humanity secure a future for the  next generations?

NO! The world in its current form cannot be saved! But human race has the option to  save some of the most basic systems that are needed to support life. However, this cannot be achieved unless humans take radical steps to change the system of economy that dominates their lifestyles.

A new, globally enforced energy and resource consumption policy that strictly limits the use of energy and natural resources and localizes the economy must be employed NOW!

Humans live on Mars’ sister, but they haven’t registered yet!

“As of End March 2008, the MSRB-CASF Index of Human Impact on Nature (HIoN), an index for calculating the full impact of human consumption and activities on the Earth’s life support systems, stood at a terminally high level of 177.43, a rise of about 3.5 percent over the previous year. In other words, the full human impact including the ecological footprint and the damage inflicted on the living environment by his activities in the 12-month period ending March 2008 was 77.43 percent higher than the load which the planet’s ecosystems in their current state can cope with.” —Mars’ Sister!

Nature is an NPO. It has performed wonderfully well for a very, very long time.”

Humans could possibly avoid extinction ONLY if they adopt nature’s “policies!”
