N. Sumatra homes buried under three meters of water

Thousands of homes in two of Indonesia’s North Sumatra and Aceh provinces have been flooded following days of torrential rains in the region.

  • In North Sumatra widespread flooding was reported in three districts, Deli Serdang, Serdang Bedagai and Mandailing Natal Deli, while in Aceh Bireun district was inundated, said a report.
  • “In Serdang district, the banks of Batu Ginging, Kuala Namu and Ular rivers burst, inundating some 1,200 houses with floodwaters up to three meters deep.”
