OIG Office of Inspections: “Evaluation of Embassy Baghdad’s Implementation of LOE6”

What OIG Found:

“Recent Department polling shows that about 40 percent of Iraqis believe that the United States is working to destabilize Iraq and control its natural resources and nearly a third believe that America supports terrorism in general or the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant, specifically. About half of Iraqi Sunnis and Shia now say that they completely oppose the Global Coalition to Counter the Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant.”

Iraq Casualty Figures for November 2015

Posted by feww on December 1, 2015

888 Iraqis killed 1,237 other wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict: UN

A total of at least 888 Iraqis were killed and another 1,237 were wounded in acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflict in November 2015*, according to casualty figures released today by UNAMI.

At least 489 civilians were among those killed, and 869 others wounded, said the report.

A further 399 members of the Iraqi Security Forces (including Peshmerga, SWAT and militias fighting alongside the Iraqi Army / Not including casualties from Anbar Operations) were killed and 368 were wounded.

Baghdad was the worst affected Governorate with 1,110 civilian casualties (325 killed, 785 injured), Ninewa had 109 killed and 41 injured, while Kirkuk 14 killed and 23 injured, Salahadin 21 killed and 08 injured, and Diyala 16 killed and 11 injured.

*CAVEATS: In general, UNAMI has been hindered in effectively verifying casualties in conflict areas. UNAMI could not obtain the casualty figures for the month of November from Anbar. In some cases, UNAMI could only partially verify certain incidents. UNAMI has also received, without being able to verify, reports of large numbers of casualties along with unknown numbers of persons who have died from secondary effects of violence after having fled their homes due to exposure to the elements, lack of water, food, medicines and health care. For these reasons, the figures reported have to be considered as the absolute minimum.

According to Iraq Body Count, which claims to maintain “the world’s largest public database of violent civilian deaths since the 2003 invasion,” some 941 civilians were killed in November.

UPDATE: The speaker of parliament told reporters late Tuesday that “terrorists” controlled the entire of Nineveh province [Population: ~ 3.3 million.] More than 250,000 people have reportedly fled Nineveh to Kurdish-controlled regions in northern Iraq.

ISIS terrorists have seized key Iraqi city of Mosul [Population: ~ 1.8 million,] capital of Nineveh Province, driving back government forces, according to reports quoting senior officials.

Mexico death toll from storms MANUEL and INGRID rises to 110, with 68 others still missing

Deadly storms MANUEL and INGRID have claimed at least 110 lives and left 68 others missing, presumed dead, after a mudslide buried the village of La Pintada in western Guerrero state.

About 40,000 tourists had to be evacuated, including 25,00 who were airlifted, out of Acapulco after severe flooding destroyed road and bridges cutting off the popular beach resort.

The full extent of disaster is still unknown because many rural communities remain cut off, officials said.

An evacuation order has been issued for residents along Highway 68 in Alcalde and Velarde, said a report.

Nairobi terror: Militants kill dozens, hold hostages in mall siege

Death toll in Nairobi mall attack has climbed to at least 59 with more than 175 others wounded after militants stormed an upscale shopping mall in the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, said a senior government official on Sunday.

Massive blackout paralyzes Venezuela

A major power cut has left more than two-thirds of Venezuela without electricity including most of the capital Caracas.

The blackout disabled stoplights in the capital, and disrupted the subway causing chaos.

Venezuelan President Maduro has accused the far-right opposition of “sabotaging” the power lines.

“Everything seems to indicate that the far-right has resumed its plan for an electrical strike against the country,” he said.

Critics blame poor management and the failure to upgrade the infrastructure, reports said.

Iraq Carnage: 110 People Killed in 36 Hrs

1 Policeman was beheaded, 14 people killed by gunfire, including 7 family members, 15 murdered by IEDs, and 80 were killed in 18 bomb explosions over the past 36 hours.

The monthly death toll for August so far stands at 823 civilians killed, and as many as 2,000 others wounded.

The latest killings bloodied the cities of Baghdad, Mosul, Latifiya, Falluja, Baiji, Qayyara and Jalawla, according to reports.

Saudis, Qataris and other Arab regimes that help perpetuate the sectarian slaughter in Iraq and Syria must realize that they will NOT escape the global “de-Islamization” unscathed.
