FIRE-EARTH Report: Wahhabi Arabia, Allies Committing War Crimes and Crimes against Humanity in Yemen

Background:

“In a new horrible massacre against Yemen, more than 20 people have been martyred in a Saudi-led coalition airstrike on a marketplace in the town of al-Hudaydah in Yemen. Graphic footage appears to show debris and bodies burning in the aftermath of the bombing,” said a report.

AFP reported  26 people had been killed in the airstrike, while Al-Masirah TV channel reported the toll as 27 killed and dozens more wounded in the attack, YemenPress said.

Riyadh and its allies stand accused of war crimes and crimes against humanity for continuing to target residential areas and public gatherings. At least 61 such airstrikes have been documented by Human Rights Watch [HRW.]

HRW reported in October that the Saudi coalition, “with direct military support from the US and assistance from the UK,” conducted at least 58 “unlawful airstrikes.”

The UN humanitarian organization has stated that about 10,000 people have been killed in Yemen as a result of the Saudi-led military campaign, with 7 million people close to starvation.

At least 1,400 children have been killed as a result of Saudi aggression, according to World Health Organization.

Human Rights Watch

The humanitarian situation in Yemen is “increasingly unsustainable” and the urgent action must be taken to stop the country plunging further into a “deep humanitarian catastrophe” as the situation “cannot continue like this for very long,” said the Human Rights Watch [HRW] representative for Middle East & North Africa.

“We ourselves, at Human Rights Watch, were able to document 61 apparent unlawful airstrikes, all conducted by the coalition, some of which may amount indeed to war crimes and that have killed nearly 900 civilians and have hit civilian areas, including markets, schools, hospitals and private homes,” he said.

He has called on western powers, “who are continuing to supply Saudi Arabia with weapons despite the damning evidence of its human rights violations in Yemen, to immediately halt deliveries.”

“We clearly recommend that the United States, the United Kingdom, France and others should suspend all weapons sales to Saudi Arabia until they curtail their unlawful airstrikes in Yemen and until also a credible investigation is conducted about those violations,” the HRW representative said, adding that previous investigations conducted by the coalition do not appear to HRW to be “fair or credible.”

How to Prevent Despots from Committing War Crimes!

Posted by feww on January 30, 2017

Activists ‘trying to disarm’ Saudi-bound warplanes arrested

Two UK activists have been arrested at BAE Systems site in Lancashire, while reportedly attempting to disarm and prevent Saudi-bound warplanes from taking off and used to commit war crimes in Yemen.

London Quaker and activist Sam Walton and Methodist minister Rev Dan Woodhouse have been arrested after entering a BAE Systems site in Warton, Lancashire this morning with the intention of disarming planes bound for Saudi Arabia. They issued this statement:

‘Two people have attempted to disarm warplanes bound for Saudi Arabia from BAE Warton

‘On the morning of Sunday 29 January two people attempted to disarm warplanes bound for Saudi Arabia from BAE Systems Warton site.

The aim is to stop Saudi Arabia having more planes with which to commit war crimes with in Yemen. The intention is to save innocent lives and prevent war crimes, by physically disabling warplanes.

The action comes exactly 21 years after three women entered the same base to disarm a plane being sent to Indonesia to be used in the genocide in East Timor.

They are being held on suspicion of criminal damage.

Reverend Dan Woodhouse, a Methodist Minister in Leeds said: “By stopping or even delaying Saudi Arabia having more planes with which to bomb Yemen this action will save innocent lives and prevent war crimes. We are clear that the real crime taking place is arming despots, who frequently use arms on their own people, are known to use torture and the death penalty, and who will almost certainly be using the planes sent from BAE Warton to continue to commit crimes against humanity.”

Sam Walton, a Quaker from London said: “We do not take these steps lightly, but we have no other option. We have been active in opposing the arms trade to Saudi Arabia for years, and in the face of wilful government denial that there is a problem with arming Saudi, including willingness to suspend our own due process of law, and complete unwillingness to consider stopping arming Saudi Arabia, we must take this action.”

Eurofighter Typhoons and Tornadoes sold to Saudi Arabia are being used on combat missions in Yemen, where Saudi Arabia is committing war crimes. Saudi Arabia has been leading bombing missions in Yemen since March 2015. BAE also supplies Saudi Arabia with Hawk jets, used to train the Royal Saudi Air Force. Typhoons and Hawk jets are known to be on site being prepared for imminent delivery to Saudi Arabia.

The UK government has refused to stop supplying arms to Saudi Arabia and has licensed well over £3 billion of arms sales since the conflict began. A legal analysis from Matrix Chambers found that the UK government is breaking international, EU and UK law by supplying arms to Saudi Arabia in the context of its military intervention and bombing campaign in Yemen.

Israel Admits Spraying Poisons Inside Gaza Strip

Posted by feww on January 1, 2016

International law requires occupier Israel to facilitate normal life in Gaza Strip: Rights group

Israeli Army says they sprayed  herbicide to ‘enable security operations.’ Palestinian farmers say the poison has destroyed or damaged hundreds of acres of crops, said a report.

“The Israel army has confirmed that it used crop-dusters to kill off vegetation—and perhaps inadvertently, agricultural crops—inside the Gaza Strip last week.”

“The aerial spraying of herbicides and germination inhibitors was conducted in the area along the border fence last week in order to enable optimal and continuous security operations,” an IDF Spokesperson told +972 on Sunday.

Although various crops including beans, peas, parsley and Spinach were destroyed around the al-Qarrara area in eastern Khan Younis and the Wadi al-Salqa area in central Gaza, the Israeli media failed to report the application of herbicides.

“The IDF has for years imposed a lethal no-go buffer zone along the Gaza border. The army killed at least 16 Palestinians and wounded at least 379 more who entered or approached the no-go zone in recent months, most of whom were participating in demonstrations along the fence,” said the report.

“Spraying crop-killing pesticides, like opening fire at people of all ages and gender in the vicinity of the fence, puts civilian lives at risk and hurts livelihoods,” the spokesperson for Gisha, an Israeli rights group that works to promote freedom of movement for Palestinians in Gaza, told 972+. “By virtue of Israel’s substantial control of the Gaza Strip, international law requires it to facilitate normal life in the Strip.”  Read more…

15 Million children caught up in major conflicts: UNICEF

An estimated 230 million children live in countries and areas plagued by armed conflicts.

This year “has been one of horror, fear and despair for millions of children, as worsening conflicts across the world saw them exposed to extreme violence and its consequences, forcibly recruited and deliberately targeted by warring groups,” UNICEF said.

“This has been a devastating year for millions of children,” said UNICEF Executive Director. “Children have been killed while studying in the classroom and while sleeping in their beds; they have been orphaned, kidnapped, tortured, recruited, raped and even sold as slaves. Never in recent memory have so many children been subjected to such unspeakable brutality.”

As many as 15 million children are caught up in violent conflicts in the Central African Republic, [Afghanistan, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen,] Iraq, South Sudan, the State of Palestine, Syria and Ukraine – including those internally displaced or living as refugees.

  • In the Central African Republic, 2.3 million children are affected by the conflict, up to 10,000 children are believed to have been recruited by armed groups over the last year, and more than 430 children have been killed and maimed – three times as many as in 2013
  • In Gaza, 54,000 children were left homeless as a result of the 50-day conflict during the summer that also saw 538 children killed, and more than 3,370 injured.
  • In Syria, with more than 7.3 million children affected by the conflict including 1.7 million child refugees, the United Nations verified at least 35 attacks on schools in the first nine months of the year, which killed 105 children and injured nearly 300 others. In Iraq, where an estimated 2.7 million children are affected by conflict, at least 700 children are believed to have been maimed, killed or even executed this year. In both countries, children have been victims of, witnesses to and even perpetrators of increasingly brutal and extreme violence.
  • In South Sudan, an estimated 235,000 children under five are suffering from severe acute malnutrition. Almost 750,000 children have been displaced and more than 320,000 are living as refugees.  According to UN verified data, more than 600 children have been killed and over 200 maimed this year, and around 12,000 children are now being used by armed forces and groups.

Japanese war criminal’s confession of torture and rape released

BEIJING, Aug. 2 (Xinhua)—The confession of Mitsuaki Kimura, a Japanese war criminal, detailing his involvement in the capture and torture of Chinese people during Japan’s war of aggression against China was published Saturday.

The confession is the latest in a series published on the website of China’s State Archives Administration (SAA).

According to his written confession, Kimura served as lieutenant captain of the Japanese Garrison Army in Handan, Hebei in January 1939 and as captain of Boli County Military Police Branch of the “Manchukuo” from 1944 to 1945.

In 1942, he led and instructed Gubeikou Military Police to arrest and interrogate about 30 soldiers of the Eighth Route Army in Shixia Township and arrested another 150 in April.

More than 150 soldiers were captured in 1943, with seven of them tortured to death during the interrogation.

Kimura said he accused a Chinese businessman in Jining County of being an agent of the Soviet Union, arrested his daughter aged about 20 for interrogation and forced her to become his servant in 1945.

“In July, when my wife was not at home I was sexually stimulated on seeing her. I raped her,” he said in the confession.

This is the 31st of 45 Japanese war criminal confessions the SAA plans to publish. It has been issuing one a day since July 3.

The move follows denials of war crimes by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and Japanese right-wing politicians.

Israeli shelling kills dozens of Palestinians sheltering in a U.N. school, street market

The shelling of a school housing displaced civilians in Jabaliya refugee camp, and a market near Gaza City has killed dozens of people and left hundreds more wounded.

Some 106 people were killed on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 1,346, with more than 7,000 others wounded. Most of the victims have been civilians, many of them children.

Israeli authorities say 56 soldiers and two civilian volunteers as well as a Thai national have been killed on their side since they resumed the latest round of genocide in Gaza on July 8.

The UN Spokesman Chris Gunness told the BBC that Israel had been told 17 times that the school was housing [more than 3,000] displaced people, saying the attack caused “universal shame.”

Thousands more have been killed or wounded during previous rounds of genocide perpetrated by Israel in 2008 and 2012.

Palestinian President declared the Gaza Strip a disaster area on Wednesday, said news reports quoting the state-run Wafa news agency.

Bolivia Declares Israel a ‘Terrorist State’

Bolivia has declared Israel a terrorist state and withdrawn a visa exemption agreement in protest over the ongoing Israeli military offensive in Gaza, said reports.

Canceling the 1972 visa-waver agreement, which allowed Israelis to travel freely to Bolivia, “means, in other words, we are declaring [Israel] a terrorist state,” announced President Evo Morales.

“Israel is not a guarantor of the principles of respect for life and the elementary precepts of rights that govern the peaceful and harmonious coexistence of our international community,” explained Morales.

“The Bolivian state and people have made a firm decision to terminate the agreement on visas to Israel, from August 17, 1972, signed under a regime of dictatorship in Bolivia and that allowed Israeli citizens to enter Bolivia freely and without entry visas,” said an official communique.

Earlier this month, Morales filed a request with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights to prosecute the Jewish state for “crimes against humanity.”

Cheney, 69, and really sick, has had four heart attacks, quadruple bypass surgery, two dozen angiogram and heart operations to clear blocked arteries with at least 170 doctors and medical staff looking into his coronary arteries. He was fitted with a pacemaker in 2001, which required three repairs. [Yet all he ever needed was a wooden stake!]
