Obama Itching to Accelerate Global Collapse

Russian President Vladimir Putin has challenged the US to present to the UN Security Council evidence that Syria attacked the so-called rebels with chemical weapons near Damascus, saying the idea that Syrian government has used chemical weapons on its own people was “utter nonsense.”

US President Barrack Obama said on Friday the US was planning a “limited, narrow” military action against Syria after intelligence reports that 1,429 people were killed by chemical weapons on  August 21.

Mr Putin said it was ridiculous to suggest that Syrian government was to blame for the chemical attack on its own people.

“Syrian government forces are advancing, while the so-called rebels are in a tight situation, as they are not nearly as equipped as the government,” Putin told ITAR-TASS.

“What those who sponsor the so-called rebels need to achieve is simple – they need to help them in their fight… and if this happens, it would be a tragic development,” he said.

“In these conditions, to give a trump card to those who are calling for a military intervention is utter nonsense.”

“So I’m convinced that is nothing more than a provocation by those who want to drag other countries into the Syrian conflict.”

Putin said that the US failure to present evidence to the international community was “simply disrespectful”.

“If there is evidence it should be shown. If it is not shown, then there isn’t any,” he said.

Russia has previously warned that “any unilateral military action bypassing the UN Security Council” would be a “direct violation of international law.”

Both Moscow and Beijing have vetoed two previous Security Council draft resolutions on Syria.

Mr Putin urged Mr Obama—a Nobel Peace Prize laureate—to consider future victims in Syria before taking military action.

Syrian President Assad has vowed his country will defend itself against any “aggression.”

Major Disaster Declared in New York, North Dakota

State of New York declared a federal disaster area

The Disaster President has declared a major disaster exists in the State of New York   in the areas affected by severe storms and flooding during the period of June 28 to July 4, 2013.

The areas worst affected by the severe storms and flooding are the counties of Allegany, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Franklin, Herkimer, Madison, Montgomery, Niagara, Oneida, Otsego, and Warren.

Damage surveys are continuing in other areas, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed, FEMA said.

North Dakota Disaster Declaration

The Disaster President has declared a major disaster exists in the State of North Dakota in the areas affected by severe storms and flooding during the period of May 17 to June 16, 2013.

The areas worst affected by the severe storms and flooding are the counties of Benson, Bottineau, Cavalier, Dunn, Kidder, McHenry, McKenzie, McLean, Mountrail, Nelson, Pembina, Pierce, Ramsey, Sheridan, Stark, Towner, Walsh, Ward, and Wells and the Spirit Lake Nation and the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa.

Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments, said FEMA.

Armyworms Force Disaster Declarations in Arkansas, Missouri

Armyworms devastate crops across 23 U.S. counties 

USDA has designated 19 counties in Arkansas and 4 counties in Missouri as agricultural disaster areas due to damage and losses caused by armyworms that began April 1 and continues.

• The primary disaster areas in Arkansas: Boone, Fulton, Izard, Madison and Sharp counties.
• Contiguous disaster areas in Arkansas:  Baxter, Benton, Carroll, Crawford, Franklin, Independence, Johnson, Lawrence, Marion, Newton, Randolph, Searcy, Stone and Washington counties.
• The disaster areas in Missouri: Howell, Oregon, Ozark and Taney counties.

A county is designated an agricultural disaster area when the crop losses exceed 30 percent.

• Adult– The true armyworm moth has grayish-brown forewings, each with a white spot near the center, and grayish-white hind wings. The wingspan averages 38.5 mm.
• Egg – The minute, greenish-white egg is globular in shape.
• Larva – The young armyworm is pale green. The mature larva is basically yellowish or brownish-green with a tan or greenish-brown head mottled with darker brown. The smooth, practically hairless body is marked with three dark longitudinal stripes, one along each side and one down the back. A full-grown armyworm is 30 to 35 mm long.
• Pupa – The reddish-brown 13-mm-long pupa darkens gradually until it is almost black.

• Vermont, USA. The Disaster President has declared 3 Vermont counties—Addison, Lamoille and Orleans—as major disaster areas due to severe storms, hail, flooding, high wind and a tornado that struck the region on May 29.

• TS DEBBY, currently quasistationery,  located about 210 miles SSE of the mouth of the Mississippi River, with winds of about 50MPH, and is expected to intensify into hurricane strength before slamming into Texas/Louisiana/Florida coasts.
• DEBBY could dump up to 10 inches of rain along the Gulf Coast from southern Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle.
• Tropical Storm Warnings and Watches have been issued for coastal waters of SE Louisiana and S Mississippi.

• Colorado.  Waldo Canyon Fire, which flared up on Saturday, has grown to more than 2,000 acres, and is expected to remain active throughout the night.
  • The fast-moving blaze near Colorado Springs has forced more than 5,000 people to flee their homes.
  • The fire was zero percent contained, as of posting.
  • Mandatory Evacuation Orders:
    • “Cedar Heights Subdivision and Mountain Shadows south of Chuck Wagon are under mandatory evacuation. Boundaries are Rampart Range Road to the west and everything west of 30th and Centennial from Gateway Road north to Chuck Wagon. City of Manitou Springs and Crystal Park Subdivision as well as The north side of Hwy. 24 east from the County line to Waldo Canyon. There are no evacuation orders in place at this time for Mountain Shadows other than those south of Chuck Wagon Road. Garden of the Gods Park and Garden of the Gods Visitor Center are closed. Pikes Peak Hwy. is closed.” USFS reported.

• Colorado. Woodland Heights fire, another explosive blaze that ignited near the mountain community of Estes Park, has destroyed about two dozen structures.

More than 4 meters of snow buries parts of northern and eastern Japan

Snow-related incidents have left at least 52 people dead and about a thousand others injured, more than 350 of them seriously, in northern and eastern Honshu, Japan’s main island.

• Japan.  Snow-related incidents have left at least 52 people dead and about a thousand others injured, about 350 of them seriously, in northern and eastern Honshu, Japan’s main island.
  • More than 4 meters of snow has fallen in parts of Aomori Prefecture, northern Honshu.
  • Yamagata and Niigata prefectures have received more than 3 meters, while Tottori and Nagano prefectures each reported more than 2 meters of snow.
  • The Aomori prefectural government has set up more than a dozen disaster relief centers.
  • Niigata Prefecture has issued disaster declaration in at least 7 municipalities, a report said.
  • More snow is expected to fall along the Sea of Japan coast until at least Saturday, Japan Meteorological Agency reported.
  • UPDATE:   At least 4 more people were killed by avalanches in northern Akita prefecture, raising the death toll to 56, as of posting.
  • Temperatures in northern Aomori prefecture fell to 15ºF, with about 4.32 meters of snow reported on the ground.

Other Global Disasters

• Port Said, Egypt. About 80 people have been killed and more than a thousand others injured in clashes between rival fans following a soccer match in the Egyptian city of Port Said, reports said.
• Papua New Guinea (PNG).A ferry carrying at least 350 passengers has sunk off the north coast of PNG, officials said.
  • Between 30 to 50 people have been rescued, according to different groups, with more than 300 others missing, presumed drowned.
• Europe. The weather-related death toll in eastern and central Europe has climbed to at least 120, as the big freeze intensifies.
• Utah, USA.  The Disaster President has declared a major disaster exists in the State of Utah in the area affected by a severe storm during the period of November 30 to December 1, 2011.
  • The severe storm packing winds of  up to 110 mph tore through homes and businesses causing substantial damage in Davis County.

• Mitchell, QLD, Australia. Authorities have declared “a disaster situation” in Mitchell as floodwaters invade the town, a report said.
  • Under the declaration, they have the power to enforce mandatory evacuations.
  • At least 8 other towns in southwest Queensland are on flood alert, with more heavy rain forecast, ABOM said.
• NSW,  Australia.    The New South Wales town of Moree is bracing for its worst flooding in nearly 4 decades, a report said.
  • “About 2,300 people have been ordered to leave their homes or businesses and by tonight the town will be effectively cut in half.”
  • Meanwhile,  at Pallamallawa, helicopters are airlifting 600 trapped residents in major rescue operation.
  • An undisclosed number of tourists have been trapped by flooding at Takarakka Bush Resort, south-west of Rockhampton, central Queensland, since Australia Day, a report said.
  • The State Emergency Service has issued an evacuation ORDER for communities within North West NSW and is continuing to update them on their website.

• Moscow, Russia.   At least ten people have been killed and dozens more injured following a series of car accidents caused by snow and icy roads in Moscow, a report said.
  • “The snowstorm will continue in the Russian capital, and weather conditions may become even more extreme: meteorologists expect an ice storm in the city.”

• Nevada, USA. A fast-moving massive blaze has destroyed at least 20 Reno homes, forcing 10,000 people to evacuate.
• At least one person was reported dead as a result of a heart attack, and dozens were injured, mostly from smoke inhalation, respiratory or cardiac conditions.
• “‘The whole mountain was on fire,’ said a Mountain Springs Road resident who escaped with his wife first to a shopping center and later to Reno High School after waking to the smell of intense smoke about 1:30 a.m.” AP reported.
• The authorities ordered 90 schools to close.

• Southeast Asia. At least 20 million people in SEA have been affected by flooding since June 2011. The worst affected countries are Thailand, Philippines, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam.

• Massachusetts, USA.  The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has designated 7 counties in Massachusetts as agricultural disaster areas due to losses caused by excessive rain and high winds associated with Tropical Storm Irene that occurred Aug. 28-31, 2011.
• The counties declared as Primary disaster areas are Barnstable, Dukes, Nantucket and Plymouth.
• The counties declared as Contiguous disaster areas are Bristol, Norfolk and Suffolk.
• Maryland, USA. USDA has designated 22 counties in Maryland as agricultural disaster areas due to losses caused by the combined effects of drought, excessive heat and damage from Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee that occurred April 1 – Oct. 31, 2011.

The “first stage” federal emergency declaration is said to be in response to the emergency conditions resulting from a severe storm that buffeted New England October 29-30, 2011.

• Connecticut, USA. The early nor’easter which dumped heavy snow from the mid-Atlantic to New England most of the weekend, dropped up to 22 inches of snow in parts of Connecticut, knocking down trees,  snapping power lines, and leaving about 825,000 homes and businesses without power as of Sunday evening.
• The state of Connecticut was the worst hit area with about 300 roads fully or partially closed, Governor Malloy said.
• The snowstorm claimed at least 18 lives, as of posting.
• Up to 2 million customers in the region were still without power Monday morning.
• More disasters have hit the United States during Obama’s thousand plus days in office than at any other comparable period in history.

Other Global Disasters

•  Van, Turkey. The death toll in Turkish earthquake has climbed to at least 601, with more than 4,100 injured, Turkey’s Disaster and Emergency Admin said.
• Turkey’s Kandilli Observatory estimates the final death toll could exceed 1,000.
• The 7.2Mw quake that struck eastern Turkey on October 23, also destroyed/severely damaged about 4,000 buildings in cities of Van, Ercis and the surrounding areas, leaving thousands of people homeless.
