M4.5 Strikes SE of Soda Springs

A swarm of at least 155 earthquakes have now struck near Soda Springs, Idaho, spreading over an area of about 400 km²  (~ 155 squared miles) since September 2, 2017.

The largest event measured 4.5 mwr, striking  42.612°N, 111.523°W at a depth of 5.8 km, USGS reported.

Strong Seismic Cluster Striking Soda Springs, Idaho; M5.3 Event Largest Shock

A cluster of at least 34 earthquakes including shocks measuring magnitudes 5.3, 4.3 and 4.2 have struck the State of Idaho. The seismicity appears ongoing, and the pattern is consistent with large-scale magma movement.

Another swarm of earthquakes strikes Oklahoma, Kansas

A cluster of at least 11 earthquakes have struck Oklahoma and the border area with neighboring state of Kansas in the past 24 hours, according to data posted by USGS/EHP.

The largest quake in the cluster measured 4.3Mw and was centered at 36.848°N, 97.699°W.

Earthquakes strike north of Bald Mountain, NV

Another swarm of at least 15 earthquakes has rattled northwestern Nevada over the past 24 hours.

The quakes measured between 2.5 and 3.9Mw, reported USGS/EHP.

The two largest events today measured 3.9Mw occurring at depths of 10.2km and 6.8km, said the report.

The latest swarm brings the total number of events in the area to at least 73 over the past 30 days.

The U.S. events include 30 out of 42 earthquakes globally, measuring ≥ 2.5Mw, over the past 24 hours, and three out of six significant earthquakes in 30 days.

Significant Aftershocks Continue to Rock Aleutian Islands

8 significant aftershocks strike Aleutian Islands, following M7.0 quake

At least 8 significant aftershocks, measuring 5.0Mw or larger, were among a swarm of dozen quakes that hit Aleutian Islands, Alaska, following a powerful 7.0 mainshock that occurred ESE of Adak, Alaska earlier today.

West Coast and Alaska Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami advisory, watch or warning in effect after the mainshock.

The M7.0 quake struck about 94km (58mi) ESE of Adak, Alaska and was strongly felt in Adak, about 2,000km southwest of Anchorage, according to reports.

There was no report of major damage or injuries, as of posting.
