  • Major Disaster Declaration proclaimed on June 11, 2016

The White House has declared a major disaster exists in the State of Texas in the areas affected by severe storms and deadly flooding beginning on May 26, 2016, and continuing.

Federal funding have reportedly been made available to affected individuals in Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Fort Bend, Grimes, Hidalgo, Hood, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Travis, Waller, and Washington counties. “Assistance can include grants for temporary housing and home repairs, low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses, and other programs to help individuals and business owners recover from the effects of the disaster.”

Federal funding also is available to the state and eligible local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations on a cost-sharing basis for emergency protective measures in Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Fort Bend, Grimes, Hidalgo, Hood, Montgomery, San Jacinto, Travis, Waller, and Washington counties.

Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas said damage surveys were continuing in other areas, and more counties and additional forms of assistance may be designated after the assessments are fully completed.

Severe winter storm and snowstorm caused substantial damage across the commonwealth, especially in the counties of Albemarle, Arlington, Caroline, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, Highland, King George, Loudoun, Louisa, Madison, Page, Patrick, Prince William, Rappahannock, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Warren counties, and the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas, Manassas Park, and Winchester.

Federal funding is available to the commonwealth, tribal, and eligible local governments on a cost-sharing basis for snow assistance for a continuous 48 hour period during or proximate to the incident period in Albemarle, Arlington, Caroline, Clarke, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, Frederick, Highland, King George, Loudoun, Louisa, Madison, Page, Patrick, Prince William, Rappahannock, Spotsylvania, Stafford, and Warren counties, and the independent cities of Alexandria, Falls Church, Manassas, Manassas Park, and Winchester.

Severe winter storm and snowstorm caused substantial damage across the state, especially in the counties of Allegany, Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Calvert, Caroline, Carroll, Cecil, Charles, Frederick, Garrett, Harford, Howard, Kent, Montgomery, Prince George’s, Queen Anne’s, Washington, and Worcester and the Independent City of Baltimore.

Major Disaster Declared for Northern Mariana Islands

Super Typhoon SOUDELOR: Federal disaster declared for Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands 

Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands Typhoon Soudelor (DR-4235)

The Disaster President has declared a major disaster exists in the Commonwealth of Northern Mariana Islands in the area affected by Super Typhoon SOUDELOR during the period of August 1-3, 2015.

The areas that were worst affected by the impact of the massive Typhoon were the islands of Rota, Saipan, and Tinian.

The Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area said that damage surveys are continuing in other areas, and additional areas may be designated for assistance after the assessments are fully completed.

This is the 31st Major Disaster Declaration [DR 4205-4235] proclaimed for a U.S. state/territory. Additionally, the federal government has issued eleven Fire Management Assistance Declarations for the year to date, as of posting.

The Disaster President has declared a major disaster exists in the State of South Dakota in the areas affected by severe storms, tornadoes, straight-line winds, and flooding during the period of June 17-24, 2015.

The areas that were worst affected by the extreme weather events include the counties of Brule, Buffalo, Fall River, Haakon, Hughes, Jackson, Jerauld, Jones, Lyman, McCook, Oglala Lakota, and Stanley counties, and the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe, Lower Brule Sioux Tribe, and the Oglala Sioux Tribe within Oglala Lakota County.

Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the territory and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.

This is the 29th Major Disaster Declaration [DR 4205-4233] proclaimed for a U.S. state/territory, and the second for Vermont so far this year. Additionally, the federal government has issued eight Fire Management Assistance Declarations for the year to date, as of posting.

The areas that were worst affected by the extreme weather events include the following 42 counties: Atchison, Barton, Brown, Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cheyenne, Clay, Cloud, Coffey, Cowley, Doniphan, Edwards, Elk, Ellsworth, Franklin, Gray, Greenwood, Harper, Haskell, Hodgeman, Jackson, Jefferson, Jewell, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, McPherson, Meade, Miami, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Republic, Rice, Stevens, Sumner, Wabaunsee, and Washington.
