Tsunami Evaluation

ISSUED by PACIFIC TSUNAMI WARNING CENTER/NOAA/NWS
AT 19:59UTC 06 JUL 2011

SEA LEVEL READINGS INDICATE A TSUNAMI WAS GENERATED. IT MAY HAVE BEEN DESTRUCTIVE ALONG COASTS NEAR THE EARTHQUAKE EPICENTER. FOR THOSE AREAS – WHEN NO MAJOR WAVES ARE OBSERVED FOR TWO HOURS AFTER THE ESTIMATED TIME OF ARRIVAL OR DAMAGING WAVES HAVE NOT OCCURRED FOR AT LEAST TWO HOURS THEN LOCAL AUTHORITIES CAN ASSUME THE THREAT IS PASSED. DANGER TO BOATS AND COASTAL STRUCTURES CAN CONTINUE FOR SEVERAL HOURS DUE TO RAPID CURRENTS. AS LOCAL CONDITIONS CAN CAUSE A WIDE VARIATION IN TSUNAMI WAVE ACTION THE ALL CLEAR DETERMINATION MUST BE MADE BY LOCAL AUTHORITIES.

NO TSUNAMI THREAT EXISTS FOR OTHER COASTAL AREAS IN THE PACIFIC ALTHOUGH SOME OTHER AREAS MAY EXPERIENCE SMALL SEA LEVEL CHANGES. THE TSUNAMI WARNING IS NOW CANCELLED FOR ALL AREAS COVERED BY THIS CENTER.

Tsunami Wave Amplitude

“The largest wave we saw was a peak to peak amplitude of 1.9 meters which, looking at the sea surface, would be like a one meter rise. That wave was at Raoul Island very close to the earthquake and just to the west of the epicenter,” according to a spokesman at the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

“Further away from the quake it is very small to no tsunami. Based on that information it was clear that it was very small and we cancelled [the tsunami warning.]”

Navy Vessel Used Against Deep Sea Drilling Protesters

Posted by feww on April 15, 2011

Bloggers Down Under call it

“Gunboat Democracy”

When a government uses the military against protesters

No it wasn’t Egypt or Saudi Arabia this time, not even the tiny dictatorship of Bahrain using the military to suppress citizens freedom of speech or their right to demonstrate; it was the [allegedly] democratic government of New Zealand  sending out a task force to threaten ordinary kiwis protesting against deep sea drilling off New Zealand coast.

The united front of te Whānau ā Apanui, Greenpeace and the flotilla opposing deep sea oil drilling is holding its position in the Raukūmara Basin as the HMNZS Pūkakī arrived after eight days of surveillance by an Air force Orion. Source: Greenpeace

In an act that would make the cruelest police state dictators fume with envy,  New Zealand police and naval forces dispersed environmental activists and protesters opposed to deep sea oil drilling off New Zealand’s East Cape.

Petrobras, the Brazilian oil giant,  ignoring the wishes of indigenous Maori, was attempting to carry out seismic test in the Raukumara Basin, when their work was disrupted by environmentalists.

New Zealand govt have since served notice that any protester blocking the “oil exploration off the East Cape would face fines of up to $10,000, a year in prison, or probably both,” a blog report said.

Our advice to YOU and all intelligent people in Wellington area
1. There’s a frighteningly large buildup of tectonic stress energy right under your feet.
2. RUN while you’re still alive, before the next exodus bottleneck makes it impossible to flee the danger zone.

Earthquakes are natural phenomenons (as opposed to sci-fi action you alluded) and as such constitute part of the earth’s natural defense mechanism, among other functions. What you’re witnessing is a planetary response to harms caused by humans.

In “Christchurch Earthquake and ‘Somali Pirates’” posted on February 27, 2011 FIRE-EARTH issued the following warning:

[SEISMIC HAZARD WARNING: Areas in and around the Golden Bay, the Tasman Bay, the region north and south of the Cook Strait, the entire northern seaboard of North Island, especially the Hauraki Gulf area, as well as the western and eastern seaboards of the NI are believed to be among NZ’s potential disaster hotpots. In reply to a reader comment, posted on February 25, FIRE-EARTH said:
“FIRE-EARTH believes that unprecedented cataclysmic geophysical events [seismic, volcanic …] WILL destroy much of New Zealand islands within the next few years.”

IF you’re interested about saving lives, these are the sort of messages that you really ought to spread, NOT the sci-fi nonsense about “mega weapons.”

Truth is the bottom line, income from tourism, is more important to your government than human lives.

“and our govt are just people, citizens, like ourselves…”

REALLY? Are you a multimillionaire like your PM John Key?

Your PM is a greedy individual who has amassed a massive fortune, albeit from “immoral activities,” and who has shown no interest in the livelihood of quarter of a million NZ kids living in abject poverty.

‘SOMALI PIRATES’ EYING ‘BOAT’ CARRYING INTERNATIONAL DONATIONS FOR CHRISTCHURCH QUAKE VICTIMS

“The devastation in Christchurch is as bad as the destruction caused by an earthquake in Haiti last year, former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark says.”

Helen Clark visits Christchurch with Labour leader Phil Goff . Twitpic/Phil Goff via Apartheid New Zealand

A former NZ PM and a current prominent UN figure, Ms Clark must surely be even more initiated than the UN secretary general Mr Banki – Moon!

Ms Clark who now heads the United Nations development program, reportedly flew into Christchurch today and visited the central city to view the CTV and PGC building sites.

“Total devastation, and my heart goes out to everybody. So many people no longer with us. Grieving families. People with terrible injuries. People’s livelihoods destroyed … that’s the devastating scene.” She said.

“The devastation in Christchurch is as bad as the destruction caused by an earthquake in Haiti last year, former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark says.” Local media reported.

Interesting how the establishment agents have such short memories. After the Christchurch earthquake 2010, they said the buildings there were much more quake-resistant than Haiti’s, in an attempt to explain why no one was killed in NZ. [The international charity mafia still claims that more than 300,000 people were killed—sic—and about 316,000 injured—sic— as a result of the Haiti 2010 quake.]

Keep an eye on the donation figures and see how the hundreds of millions of dollars poured in would be hijacked by the ‘Somali Pirates.’ At least they might now moralize the grand larceny by using excuses like: ‘Why rebuild in the same place where nature has destroyed twice already.’

The Mass Exodus

“Authorities in Nelson are working hard to accommodate fleeing Christchurch residents amid reports that [thousands] have escaped to the region following Tuesday’s earthquake.” Source

“It is difficult to gauge the number of arrivals, however, anecdotal estimates have people arriving from Christchurch over the weekend numbering many hundreds,” spokesman for Tasman Emergency Management said.

“There had been reports that some were looking to shift to the Nelson-Tasman area long term, with some enrolling in schools.” The report said.

The Amazing Vanishing Act of the Dead

Previously:

  • Fatalities : 145 Dead (at least 95 percent had already been identified)
  • Missing: Between 200 to 300
  • Presumed total of the dead and missing: Between 345 and 445.

Today:

Superintendent Dave Cliff confirmed the death toll in Christchurch had increased to 147.

He said there are still more than 200 people missing, including a New Zealand police officer.

“We know many – if not all – of the confirmed dead will be on that list,” Mr Cliff said this evening.

“So there are still over 50 unaccounted for.” Source

NZ PM John Key’s Revealing Comment about the Fatalities:

“This may be New Zealand’s single-most tragic event,” he said (See below).

[NOTE: In New Zealand’s previous worst ever disaster, the 1931 Hawkes Bay earthquake, 256 people perished.]

FIRE-EARTH Quake Warnings:

FIRE-EARTH Blog has been posting specific quake warning for New Zealand Region since 2008, all of which have been buried by New Zealand govt and Google. [See links below.]

The following report written by the Press Association is included for reference:

New Zealand disaster ‘worst ever’

[UKPA] Saturday February 26 2011

New Zealand’s prime minister said the Christchurch quake may be the country’s worst disaster ever, as officials warned that a third of the city centre’s buildings may have to be destroyed.

Engineers and planners said the city’s decimated central area may be completely unusable for months to come and that at least a third of the buildings must be demolished and rebuilt after last Tuesday’s 6.3-magnitude quake. The casualty toll stands at 145 dead and more than 200 missing.

John Key said the government would announce an aid package on Monday for an estimated 50,000 people who will be out of work for months due to the closure of the city centre. Mr Key, who spent some time talking to families who lost loved ones in the disaster, called for two minutes of silence next Tuesday to remember both the victims and the ordeal of the survivors.

“This may be New Zealand’s single-most tragic event,” he said.

Christchurch mayor Bob Parker assured relatives of the missing – including people from several countries who have converged on this southern New Zealand city of 350,000 – that every effort was being made to locate any remaining survivors of Tuesday’s 6.3-magnitude quake.

No-one was found alive overnight as a multi-national team of more than 600 rescuers continued scouring the city’s central business district, although a paramedic reported hearing voices in one destroyed building early on Saturday, Police Supt Russel Gibson said.

Police have said up to 120 bodies may be entombed in the ruins of the CTV building alone, where dozens of foreign students from an international school were believed to be trapped. Still, Supt Gibson said rescuers were not completely ruling out good news. “I talked to experts who say we’ve worked on buildings like this overseas and we get miracles. New Zealand deserves a few miracles,” he said.

The King’s Education language school released a list of missing people presumed in the building: nine teachers and 51 students – 26 Japanese, 14 Chinese, six Filipinos, three Thais, one South Korean and one Czech. An additional 20 students were listed with “status unknown”.

The death toll rose on Saturday to 145, Police Supt David Cliff said, adding that: “We do expect that number to rise.” Some 226 people remained missing. At Christchurch’s cathedral, workers had just begun work on its ruined bell tower late on Friday when fresh aftershocks sent more masonry tumbling from the building.

The city’s central business district will take several months to recover, Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee said, adding that “most of the services, in fact all of the services that are offered in the CBD will need to relocate elsewhere”.

Christchurch Could Vanish from Google Map

Posted by feww on February 23, 2011

SPECIFIC  WARNING to New Zealand

Large-scale tectonic and geophysical  activities could wipe off Christchurch and other NZ cities from the face of the Earth

In  A Warning to Visitors to New Zealand FIRE-EARTH asked Apartheid Fort New Zealand to post the following message dated May 9, 2009:

[NOTE: The posts linked to above have also been buried by NZ govt and the Internet mafia.]

Climatological and Geological Warning!

The New Zealand region is about to experience significant climatological events and large-scale geological and tectonic activity. Would be visitors are advised to stay out of the area for the foreseeable future.

On July 16, 2009 FIRE-EARTH posted Global Travel Warning!

Global Travel Warning!

Posted by feww on July 16, 2009

STAY OUT OF NEW ZEALAND!

The following WARNING was first posted on MAY 9, 2009 at NewZeelend Blog. FEWW is re-posting the WARNING with renewed urgency:

Seismic, Volcanic and Climatological Warning!

The New Zealand region is undergoing large-scale tectonic [seismological and volcanic] activities and significant climatological events. Would be visitors are well advised to stay clear of the area for the foreseeable future.

Here’s a New, SPECIFIC WARNING to New Zealand

FIRE-EARTH believes large earthquakes could destroy Christchurch and several other cities in New Zealand. The bulk of Christchurch could literally vanish as a result of ensuing geophysical activity, possibly by as early as 2015.

In the Short Term

  • More powerful shocks could strike Christchurch [also Auckland, Wellington and elsewhere in New Zealand] anytime.
  • Large scale volcanic activity in the country could occur this year [high probability.]
  • FIRE-EARTH has identified a number of potential seismic ‘Ground Zeros,’ areas prone to devastation, in the New Zealand Region, some of which coincide with population centers.

New Zealand government has a moral responsibility [we won’t hold our breath] and a  legal duty to relocate New Zealanders from the DANGER ZONES. [Would you trust a government which hides earthquake warnings from its people?]

FIRE-EARTH advice to Christchurch residents:

Get out while you’re still alive!

NZ Govt and Google Buried Quake Warnings

Posted by feww on February 22, 2011

New Zealand Quake Update

Why Did New Zealand Govt and Google Bury Specific Quake Warnings?

FIRE-EARTH Blog has been posting specific quake warning for New Zealand Region since 2008, all of which have been buried by New Zealand govt and Google. [See links below.]

Latest NZ Earthquake Update and WARNINGS:

  • NZ’s Prime Minister John Key has confirmed at least 65 deaths in the Christchurch as a result of today’s earthquakes. “We may be witnessing New Zealand’s darkest day,” he told TVNZ.
  • Mayor Bob Parker has said the death toll could quite possibly double.
  • Many foreign tourists may be among the casualties.
  • It’s unlikely that the secretive government would ever reveal the exact number of fatalities and casualties.
  • Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker said up to 200 people are trapped in buildings across the city.
  • Many people are still reported as missing.
  • The power is cut off and phone lines are down throughout Christchurch, as the authorities evacuate the central areas of the city because of the widespread damage to buildings, roads and other infrastructure.
  • Water supplies have been cut-off/disrupted throughout most of the city
  • Many roads have been severely damaged and there are reports of widespread liquefaction and flooding.
  • The epicenter was close to the town of Lyttelton (population: 3,000), about 12km SE of Christchurch and described as “unlivable” by a TV reporter.
  • Sixty percent of buildings in Lyttelton’s main street  were destroyed, the chief fire officer has reported.
  • In the central suburb of Waltham, as well as several other areas, the ground was “completely liquefied” following  the quakes.
  • The quakes have had a knock-on effect on air travel, with all commercial flights throughout New Zealand grounded.
  • Today’s earthquakes, so far,  were the second deadliest wave to strike New Zealand since a 1931 M7.8 earthquake killed 256 people in city of Napier, Hawke’s Bay region.
  • Three significant shocks have struck the area, as of posting, with the most recent one registering 5.5Mw at 01:50UTC.
  • Technically, larger shocks could strike anytime, FIRE-EARTH believes.

  • FIRE-EARTH has identified a number of potential seismic ‘Ground Zeros,’ areas prone to devastation, in the New Zealand Region, some of which coincide with population centers. New Zealand government has a moral responsibility and legal duty to relocate their people from those areas.

  • Christchurch could become unlivable in the near future.

Powerful Quake Strikes Christchurch, NZ

Posted by feww on September 4, 2010

Collapse of NZ May Have Started

Earthquake measuring up to 7.4Mw Jolts Much of South Island, New Zealand

The quake occurred close to Christchurch, the largest city in the South Island, and New Zealand’ second-largest urban area.

The mainshock was followed by at least one large aftershock measuring up to 5.5Mw.

The earthquake has caused widespread damage, but there were no reports of deaths as of posting. Two were seriously injured.

There was no report of a destructive tsunami.

Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker described the event as “sharp, vicious earthquake” which had caused “significant damage” in the area.

Daylight had shown that the extent of destruction was considerably more significant than initially thought, he said on NZ radio.

“There would not be a house, there would not be a family in our city that has not in some way have damage done to their person, to their property.”

“I think it’s like an iceberg; there is… below the visible line, significant structural damage,” the mayor said.

FEWW FORECAST FOR NEW ZEALAND – POSTED ON September 30, 2008

I. Implication for New Zealand Islands:

  • A substantial increase in the frequency of earthquake striking the twin islands.
  • More earthquakes with magnitude 6 or larger.
  • A marked increased in large explosive volcanic eruptions, especially in the following zones [also include ‘extinct’ volcanoes]
    • Taupo Volcanic Zone
    • Bombay Hills
    • Auckland volcanic field
    • Mount Taranaki
    • Mt Horrible volcano
    • Mount Taranaki
    • Mount Cargill

II. Worst Case Condition for New Zealand Islands:

  • Large earthquakes and massive volcanic eruptions could potentially destroy much of New Zealand structures and claim many lives.
  • Earthquake and volcano-triggered waves could also give rise to 40 to 50-meter tsunami that would engulf the coastal areas and low-lying lands throughout New Zealand [could also affect parts of Australia’s eastern seaboard,] compounding the damage.
  • A super/mega colossal Plinian/Ultra-Plinian eruption occurring in New Zealand’s North Island simultaneously [or within a short period of time] with a magnitude 9.8 earthquake off the eastern coast of New Zealand could claim many lives.
  • Probability of occurrence:
    1. Event 1.  A magnitude 9.8 earthquake striking off the eastern coast of New Zealand with (i) the foreshocks ripping through Auckland, Hamilton, Taupo areas, (ii) the mainshock leveling Wellington, Palmerstone North, Marlborough, Nelson and Christchurch, and (iii) the aftershock causing substantial damage as far south as Invercargill: 85%
    2. Event 2. A super/ mega colossal Plinian/Ultra-Plinian eruption in the North Island: 72%  [South Island: 57%]
    3. Event 1 and Event 2 occurring simultaneously, or within a short period of time: 64 %

What New Zealand Earthquake Experts Said

Interestingly, our colleague TERRES wrote on April 13, 2009

Apparently, New Zealanders are advised by their experts not to worry about the ‘big one.’

Powerful Quake Strikes Fiji

Posted by feww on November 9, 2009

Another powerful earthquake strikes Fiji – more intense seismic activity could occur in the region this year

A powerful quake measuring up to 7.3 Mw struck Fiji at 17.212°S, 178.413°E or about 100 km north of the capital, Suva and at a depth of 585 km on Monday, November 09, 2009 at 10:45 UTC.

The mainshock was followed by at least one aftershock measuring 5.3 Mw.

On August 19, 2009 FEWW Moderators posted the following entry:

New Round of Geo-Assualt at Kermadec Trench

Following the powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake that struck the tip of the Fiordland, South island, New Zealand, followed by a large cluster of aftershocks, another round of geo-assault appears to be gearing up at the southern end of the Kermadec trench.

The Fiordland quakes occurred as a result of a large reverse faulting motion caused by the subduction of the Australian subplate under the Pacific plate, on which Fiordland rests,  in Puysegur Trench, at the Alpine Fault.

The new wave of earthquakes would instead be caused by the ‘mirror image’ action, with Pacific plate subducting beneath the Australian protoplate.

A magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck south of the Fiji Islands on August 18, 2009 at 21:21 UTC may herald a new round of intense [and unprecedented] seismic activity at Kermadec Trench to the north, NE, and East of the North Island, as well as the north, NE, and east of the South Island, New Zealand.
