Centered at 37.349°N, 141.097°E, about 7km southeast of the stricken nuclear plant (37.316N, 141.027E), the quake struck at a depth of 28.2 km (17.5 mi), reported USGS/EHP.
The quake was reported as a magnitude 5.5 by Japan’s weather agency, and registered 4 on the local Seismic Intensity Scale (1 to 7).
