  • Location: 41.767°S 174.061°E
  • Time: 2013-08-16 11:31:07 UTC+09:00

Buildings have been severely damaged in Seddon, which has been the center of seismic activity since an earlier M6.5 tremor struck the are on July 21, said a report.

The earthquake was felt strongly in NZ Parliament, said a political commentator.

“You could see the floor of the house wobbling and you could see all the fences around shaking and all the windows were shaking.” A Blenheim resident said.

“Its way bigger, hugely bigger, like with the other one because we had heaps of after shocks with the other one they were just not anything to kind of panic about.”

A Nelson resident told NewstalkZB she could hear the “violent” earthquake coming just before it struck.

“Last time it threw us around, the last earthquake, but you could hear this one coming. It was big, and really noisy.”

Our advice to YOU and all intelligent people in Wellington area
1. There’s a frighteningly large buildup of tectonic stress energy right under your feet.
2. RUN while you’re still alive, before the next exodus bottleneck makes it impossible to flee the danger zone.

Disaster Declared in 94 Counties across 4 States

Posted by feww on July 3, 2012

Extreme Weather Events Cause Agricultural Disasters in  Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Wisconsin

Damage and losses caused by the combined effects of blizzards, excessive snow, excessive heat, excessive rain, high winds, hail, freeze, frost, tornadoes, flooding and lightening that occurred between January 1 and May 11, 2012 prompted USDA to declare disaster in 94 counties across 4 states.

List of the 72 Michigan counties declared Primary Disaster Areas

List of 10 Michigan counties declared Contiguous Disaster Areas

The following 12 counties in Indiana, Ohio and Wisconsin have also been designated as disaster areas because they are contiguous.

  • Indiana: Elkhart, Lagrange, La Porte, St. Joseph and Steuben counties.
  • Ohio: Fulton, Lucas and Williams counties.
  • Wisconsin: Florence, Forest, Marinette and Vilas counties.

March Heat, April Freezes

According to a report by the Central Region Climate Response Team, March Heat, April Freezes, March 2012 “was the warmest March on record for 25 states east of the Rockies, and for 15 other states this March ranked among the ten warmest.”

“During the middle of March maximum temperatures were averaging 40 degrees F above normal. Maximum temperatures regularly reached the low and mid 80s
well north into Wisconsin. Many locations broke daily records by more than 20 degrees F.”

However, April 2012 experienced “at least three significant cold air masses” that crept into the Midwest and caused freezing temperatures.

  • Iowa. The freeze caused a 50% destruction of the grape crop, about 90% damage to the apple and fruit tree blossoms and caused significant damage to corn and other crops.
  • Illinois. The 2012 apple crop in parts of the state was a total loss due to freeze on April 11.
    • “Sweet corn grower in Vermilion County planted sweet corn on March 19. Plants were up a couple of leaves when back‐to‐back freezes hit (26F and 27F), reducing stand by 5,000 plants per acre.
    • “Sleepy Creek Vineyard in Vermilion County reported earliest budding grapevines had 100 percent damage, and others had 80 percent damage.”
  • Michigan. “Thousands of acres of this year’s grape crop have been lost across southwest lower Michigan.
    • “A surveyor for National Grape Cooperative, better known as Welch’s Foods, said he went through hundreds of acres before even finding a live bud.  John Jasper estimates more than 10,000 acres were destroyed April 12, mostly in Berrien, Cass and Van Buren counties.
    • “Many apple, peach, cherry and blueberry orchards have also had substantial losses across northern Indiana and southern Lower Michigan.”
  • Wisconsin.  “Cherry growers in Door County, WI, anticipate losses of 70% …”
  • Kentucky.  Frost damaged apples, peaches, pears, plums, blackberries, blueberries, strawberries, and grapes to varying degrees across the state.
    • “Wheat harvest began two weeks early in Kentucky due to warm weather, but warm temperatures, and then a brief cold snap, have wreaked havoc on the crop’s yield, which some farmers say has been cut nearly in half. Some farmers are getting 12 bu/acre, compared to a normal of 80 bu/acre,” said the report (PDF file).

U.S. Heat Wave

US Weather Hazards Map, July 3, 2012. “The heat wave continues for a large portion of the central and eastern U.S., with high temperatures this afternoon forecast to be 10-15 degrees above normal. Combined with high levels of humidity, this will create dangerous heat index values as high as 100-110 degrees for locations such as Minneapolis, Chicago, Kansas City and St. Louis,” said NWS.

The core of the record heat in the central United States is forecast to move gradually to the east this week, however heat alerts and heat indices to 105 degrees will continue. “Much of the eastern half of the country will continue to bake under clear skies, high temperatures and a lack of significant rain,” said NOAA forecasters.

Continued relentless heat through most of the week from the Plains to the Atlantic Coast will dominate the weather events.

Current Warnings Prompted by Unrelenting Heat

Red Flag Warnings, Excessive Heat Warnings and Heat Advisories issued in parts of 26 states from Wyoming to North Carolina.

Heat Advisories

Heat Advisories are in effect until this evening for parts of the Northern Plains, Ohio Valley and the Southeast:

  • North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas, Minnesota, Iowa, Missouri, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio, West Virginia, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Florida.

Record Daily High Temperatures Nationwide – June 2012

All Time Record High Temperatures Nationwide – June 2012

Mid-Atlantic Derecho

  • Death toll has climbed to 22 after the weekend derecho that ravaged the Mid-Atlantic region, with at least 2 million utility customers, or an estimated 7 million people, experiencing power outages amid the continued heat.

Drought Emergency

  • Nebraska.  Gov. Heineman has declared a state emergency due to the drought conditions throughout the state of Nebraska.
    • “This declaration is important for continued efforts of state officials to ensure the safety of Nebraskans,” Heineman said. “This action is necessary as dry conditions are presenting an imminent threat to the ability of local governments to respond to drought conditions. Additionally, actions such as haying along the roadsides in Nebraska help with drought conditions.”
    • Nebraska has broken or tied scores of record high temperatures in recent days.
    • Extreme temperatures will continue over central and western Nebraska through at least Friday due to high pressure lingering over the Central Plains, NWS reported.
    • “As excessive heat and dry conditions continue, fire danger is high again today. In addition, isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening in north central Nebraska and in the Panhandle. The very dry conditions will continue to make the use of fireworks and even power equipment hazardous.”

Christchurch Earthquake and ‘Somali Pirates’

At Risk: Hundreds of Millions of Aid Dollars

‘SOMALI PIRATES’ EYING ‘BOAT’ CARRYING INTERNATIONAL DONATIONS FOR CHRISTCHURCH QUAKE VICTIMS

“The devastation in Christchurch is as bad as the destruction caused by an earthquake in Haiti last year, former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark says.”

Helen Clark visits Christchurch with Labour leader Phil Goff . Twitpic/Phil Goff via Apartheid New Zealand

A former NZ PM and a current prominent UN figure, Ms Clark must surely be even more initiated than the UN secretary general Mr Banki – Moon!

Ms Clark who now heads the United Nations development program, reportedly flew into Christchurch today and visited the central city to view the CTV and PGC building sites.

“Total devastation, and my heart goes out to everybody. So many people no longer with us. Grieving families. People with terrible injuries. People’s livelihoods destroyed … that’s the devastating scene.” She said.

“The devastation in Christchurch is as bad as the destruction caused by an earthquake in Haiti last year, former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark says.” Local media reported.

Interesting how the establishment agents have such short memories. After the Christchurch earthquake 2010, they said the buildings there were much more quake-resistant than Haiti’s, in an attempt to explain why no one was killed in NZ. [The international charity mafia still claims that more than 300,000 people were killed—sic—and about 316,000 injured—sic— as a result of the Haiti 2010 quake.]

Keep an eye on the donation figures and see how the hundreds of millions of dollars poured in would be hijacked by the ‘Somali Pirates.’ At least they might now moralize the grand larceny by using excuses like: ‘Why rebuild in the same place where nature has destroyed twice already.’

[SEISMIC HAZARD WARNING: Areas in and around the Golden Bay, the Tasman Bay, the region north and south of the Cook Strait, the entire northern seaboard of North Island, especially the  Hauraki Gulf area, as well as the western and eastern seaboards of the NI are believed to be among NZ’s potential disaster hotpots. Earthquake Update Feb 27, 2011

The Mass Exodus

“Authorities in Nelson are working hard to accommodate fleeing Christchurch residents amid reports that [thousands] have escaped to the region following Tuesday’s earthquake.” Source

“It is difficult to gauge the number of arrivals, however, anecdotal estimates have people arriving from Christchurch over the weekend numbering many hundreds,” spokesman for Tasman Emergency Management said.

“There had been reports that some were looking to shift to the Nelson-Tasman area long term, with some enrolling in schools.” The report said.

The Amazing Vanishing Act of the Dead

Previously:

  • Fatalities : 145 Dead (at least 95 percent had already been identified)
  • Missing: Between 200 to 300
  • Presumed total of the dead and missing: Between 345 and 445.

Today:

Superintendent Dave Cliff confirmed the death toll in Christchurch had increased to 147.

He said there are still more than 200 people missing, including a New Zealand police officer.

“We know many – if not all – of the confirmed dead will be on that list,” Mr Cliff said this evening.

“So there are still over 50 unaccounted for.” Source

NZ PM John Key’s Revealing Comment about the Fatalities:

“This may be New Zealand’s single-most tragic event,” he said (See below).

[NOTE: In New Zealand’s previous worst ever disaster, the 1931 Hawkes Bay earthquake, 256 people perished.]

FIRE-EARTH Quake Warnings:

FIRE-EARTH Blog has been posting specific quake warning for New Zealand Region since 2008, all of which have been buried by New Zealand govt and Google. [See links below.]

The following report written by the Press Association is included for reference:

New Zealand disaster ‘worst ever’

[UKPA] Saturday February 26 2011

New Zealand’s prime minister said the Christchurch quake may be the country’s worst disaster ever, as officials warned that a third of the city centre’s buildings may have to be destroyed.

Engineers and planners said the city’s decimated central area may be completely unusable for months to come and that at least a third of the buildings must be demolished and rebuilt after last Tuesday’s 6.3-magnitude quake. The casualty toll stands at 145 dead and more than 200 missing.

John Key said the government would announce an aid package on Monday for an estimated 50,000 people who will be out of work for months due to the closure of the city centre. Mr Key, who spent some time talking to families who lost loved ones in the disaster, called for two minutes of silence next Tuesday to remember both the victims and the ordeal of the survivors.

“This may be New Zealand’s single-most tragic event,” he said.

Christchurch mayor Bob Parker assured relatives of the missing – including people from several countries who have converged on this southern New Zealand city of 350,000 – that every effort was being made to locate any remaining survivors of Tuesday’s 6.3-magnitude quake.

No-one was found alive overnight as a multi-national team of more than 600 rescuers continued scouring the city’s central business district, although a paramedic reported hearing voices in one destroyed building early on Saturday, Police Supt Russel Gibson said.

Police have said up to 120 bodies may be entombed in the ruins of the CTV building alone, where dozens of foreign students from an international school were believed to be trapped. Still, Supt Gibson said rescuers were not completely ruling out good news. “I talked to experts who say we’ve worked on buildings like this overseas and we get miracles. New Zealand deserves a few miracles,” he said.

The King’s Education language school released a list of missing people presumed in the building: nine teachers and 51 students – 26 Japanese, 14 Chinese, six Filipinos, three Thais, one South Korean and one Czech. An additional 20 students were listed with “status unknown”.

The death toll rose on Saturday to 145, Police Supt David Cliff said, adding that: “We do expect that number to rise.” Some 226 people remained missing. At Christchurch’s cathedral, workers had just begun work on its ruined bell tower late on Friday when fresh aftershocks sent more masonry tumbling from the building.

The city’s central business district will take several months to recover, Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee said, adding that “most of the services, in fact all of the services that are offered in the CBD will need to relocate elsewhere”.
