State of Emergency Declared in Oklahoma amid Severe Storms, Floods

State of Emergency Declared for 9 Oklahoma Counties Due to Floods, Storms —Lt. Gov.

The counties covered in the declaration include Caddo, Carter, Comanche, Cotton, Garvin, Grady, McClain, Murray and Stephens.

The declaration can be amended to add additional counties if conditions warrant.

Since Saturday, these Oklahoma counties have experienced flooding, severe storms, tornadoes and straight-line winds. Initial reports show damage in numerous communities including Apache, Cyril, Lawton, Maysville and Walters. Further damage assessments are ongoing, Oklahoma Governor’s Office said.

The extreme weather events beginning June 11 have caused extensive damage to public and private properties within the State.

Under the executive order, the state of emergency lasts for 30 days.

Mississippi Severe Storms and Flooding (DR-4268)

The White House has declared a major disaster exists in the state of Mississippi in the areas affected by severe storms and flooding beginning on March 9, 2016, and continuing.

Areas that have sustained severe damage include the counties of Bolivar, Coahoma, and Washington.

Federal funding has also been made available on a cost-sharing basis for hazard mitigation measures statewide, said the official statement.

Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the state and warranted by the results of further damage assessments, said the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas.

The areas that were worst affected by the extreme weather events include the following 42 counties: Atchison, Barton, Brown, Butler, Chase, Chautauqua, Cherokee, Cheyenne, Clay, Cloud, Coffey, Cowley, Doniphan, Edwards, Elk, Ellsworth, Franklin, Gray, Greenwood, Harper, Haskell, Hodgeman, Jackson, Jefferson, Jewell, Lyon, Marion, Marshall, McPherson, Meade, Miami, Morris, Nemaha, Neosho, Osage, Pottawatomie, Republic, Rice, Stevens, Sumner, Wabaunsee, and Washington.

Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected area said additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the territory and warranted by the results of further damage assessments.

The areas that were worst affected by the extreme weather events include the eleven counties of Baca, Elbert, El Paso, Fremont, Logan, Morgan, Pueblo, Saguache, Sedgwick, Washington, and Yuma.

Disaster Declared in 27 Arkansas Counties as Flooding Worsens

Water levels continue to rise in disaster areas

“We are concerned with additional risks since the level of the water is continuing to rise in areas already affected,” said Gov. Hutchinson.

Flooding has severely impacted SW Arkansas and areas along the Arkansas River.

“Severe storms, flooding and tornadoes beginning May 8, 2015 and continuing caused great damage to private property and public-facilities in various jurisdictions in Arkansas; and Adverse circumstances have been brought to bear upon the citizens and public properties within the State,” he said, extending the Disaster Declaration to include 27 counties.

The disaster areas so far include the counties of Chicot, Crawford, Faulkner, Franklin, Garland, Hempstead, Howard, Independence, Izard, Johnson, Lafayette, Little River, Logan, Madison, Marion, Miller, Montgomery, Nevada, Newton, Ouachita, Pike, Polk, Pope, Searcy, Sevier, Scott and Yell.

Texas

At least 167 counties in Texas have have been affected by flooding.

Oklahoma

Governor Fallin has requested a federal disaster declaration for at least 13 counties severely affected by deadly storms and tornadoes.

She amended an Executive Order last week declaring a State of Emergency for all 77 Oklahoma counties.

• Incident period: April 13, 2015 to April 15, 2015

The disaster President has declared yet another major disaster exists in the State of West Virginia in the areas affected by severe storms, flooding, landslides, and mudslides during the period of April 13-15, 2015.

The areas worst affected by the disasters include the counties of Cabell, Calhoun, Greenbrier, Jackson, Pleasants, Roane, Summers, and Wirt.

Additional designations may be made at a later date if warranted by the results of damage assessments, said the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations.

This is the FOURTH Major Disaster Declaration proclaimed for W. Virginia since end of March this year.

Some 57 counties worst affected by the severe winter storm, snowstorm, flooding, landslides, and mudslides are Anderson, Bell, Bourbon, Boyd, Breathitt, Bullitt, Butler, Calloway, Carter, Casey, Clay, Daviess, Elliott, Estill, Fleming, Floyd, Franklin, Fulton, Gallatin, Grant, Greenup, Hancock, Harrison, Hart, Jackson, Johnson, Knott, Knox, LaRue, Lawrence, Lee, Leslie, Letcher, Lewis, Magoffin, Marshall, Martin, Mason, Menifee, Metcalfe, Morgan, Nicholas, Ohio, Owen, Owsley, Perry, Pike, Powell, Robertson,  Rockcastle, Rowan, Spencer, Trigg, Washington, Webster, Whitley, and Woodford.

Kentucky Survivors of April Storms Can Register for Disaster Aid
FRANKFORT, KY – Residents of 10 Kentucky counties who suffered damage from the severe storms, tornadoes, flooding, landslides and mudslides of April 2-17, 2015 may be eligible for federal disaster assistance.The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and Kentucky Emergency Management (KYEM) announced jointly that assistance is available to affected individuals in Bath, Bourbon, Carter, Elliott, Franklin, Jefferson, Lawrence, Madison, Rowan and Scott counties.

Additional designations may be made at a later date if requested by the commonwealth and warranted by the results of further damage assessments, said the Federal Coordinating Officer for federal recovery operations in the affected areas.

This is the second Major Disaster Declaration issued for Kentucky in one week.
