Global Mega Disaster:

World population to exceed 7 billion by Nov 2011

The world population will reach 7 billion on October 31, 2011, according to the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA).

Seemingly excited about the round number, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) is planning a 7-day countdown leading to the 7 billionth birth on the planet. The momentous event will commence on October 24, which also happens to be the United Nations Day.

Quote of the Day:

“A world of 7 billion is both a challenge and an opportunity,” said Babatunde Osotimehin, executive director of the UNFPA.
