• Day 213 [August 01, 2010]
  • Iraq.  July Death toll in Iraq was the highest in more than two years.  “July was the deadliest month in Iraq since May 2008 with a total of 535 people killed across the country as a result of violence, according to government figures released on Saturday,” a report said. The dead were 396 civilians, 89 policemen and 50 soldiers. [Murder ‘scores’ go to Presidents Bush and Obama, and former UK PM Blair.]
  • Pakistan.  Death toll in Pakistan floods reaches 1,000.  Deadly floods have severely affected at least one million people, so far.
  • Idaho, USA. Ada County Commission Chairman signed a disaster emergency declaration, declaring the area affected by a massive grass fire a “county disaster,” a report said.
  • Montana, USA. Sheridan County in Northeast Montana was declared a disaster area after a fatal tornado killed two and seriously injured a third person, a report said.
  • Iowa, USA. President B.O. has declared as major disaster areas the counties of Humboldt, Palo Alto, Webster and Wright, following the storm damage that devastated the region in June 1counties. “The disaster declaration also applies to 28 other Iowa counties,” a report said.
  • Michigan, USA. Calhoun County was declared a disaster area after the massive Enbridge oil leak, a report said.
    
• Day 214 [August 2, 2010]
  • Pakistan. The death toll in Pakistan floods nears 1,500 [up to 3,000?] with about 50,000 others made homeless.
    • “The Azakhel Afghan refugee camps in Nowshehra in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have completely been washed away, leaving many people beg for mercy, food and shelter. Almost two meters of waters have accumulated on the roads in part of the province, which have seriously disrupted land communication.” A report said.
    • “The death toll could go as high as 3,000 because the level of destruction has been so great,” Mujahid Khan, chief spokesman for Edhi rescue service, was reported as saying.
  • China. Death toll from China bridge collapse rose to 51, with at least 15 others reported as missing, a report said.
  • China. Coalmine explosion in China’s Linfen City kills 15, injures more than 20 others, including children.
  • China. Death toll from this week’s flooding in northeast China reached 47, a report said.
• Day 215 [August 3, 2010]
  • Kashmir. Death toll in Kashmir’s anti-India protests reaches at least 27 [possibly as many as 42 have been killed,] reports say.

• Day 216 [August 4, 2010]
  • Russia. Officials say the death toll from fires has reached 48, media reported.  “More than 300 new fires have occurred on Russian territory on Tuesday. The most difficult situation was outside Sarov in the Nizhny Novgorod region,” head of the Emergency Situations Ministry’s crisis center, Vladimir Stepanov briefed journalists on Wednesday.
  • Russia.  The death toll from the August 2 plane crash in Igarka in the Krasnoyarsk Territory climbed to 12, spokesman for the territorial emergencies department told reporters.
  • Karachi, Pakistan. Deadly violence sparked by the killing of a prominent Pakistani lawmaker, Syed Raza Haider, has left at least 55 people dead and another 130 injured in Karachi, Pakistan, officials were reported as saying.
  • Arizona, USA. The bodies of 59 suspected illegal migrants were discovered in the Arizona desert near the Mexican border in July, the highest toll since 2006, local officials said.
  • Mexico. Death toll in Mexico’s drug war has climbed to 28,000, a report said.
  • Yuanshi County in the northern province of Hebei, China. The death toll has climbed to 17, two days after the deranged Chinese tractor drive, 38-year-old Li Xianliang, went on his killing spree in his bucket loader, reports say.
  • Jammu and Kashmir. The death toll in the anti-Indian protests in the states of Jammu and Kashmir has reached 41, a report said.
  • Texas, USA. President B.O. has declared Texas a major disaster area in response to damage from  flooding caused by Hurricane Alex, a report said. The disaster declaration covers 8 counties: Cameron, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg, Maverick, Starr, Val Verde, Webb and Zapata.
• Day 217 [August 5, 2010]
  • Punjab and Sindh provinces, NW Pakistan. The flooding in NW Pakistan has esclated into a major catastrophe engulfing two major provinces. Death toll has now reached at least 1,600, with more than 4 million people severely impacted, disaster relief officials said, as more rain was forecast for the region.
• Day 218 [August 6, 2010]
  • Karachi, Pakistan. With at least 11 people killed overnight throughout Karachi,  the death toll following violent clashes reached 92, a report said.
  • Punjab and Sindh provinces, NW Pakistan. Pakistani officials say they have evacuated 500,000 people in 11 districts of Sindh province, as the death toll from flooding reaches at least 1,600.  The number of people affected by the ongoing disaster now tops 5 million.
  • Ladakh region, Indian-administered Kashmir. Flash floods have claimed at least 85 lives in the Ladakh region of Indian-administered Kashmir, officials say. More than 270 others have reportedly been injured.
  • Mumbai, India. Death toll from Mumbai malaria has reached 45, a report said.
  • Indian-occupied Kashmir. The death toll from civil unrest in Indian-occupied Kashmir has now risen to at least 49, after paramilitary forces opened fire on unarmed demonstrators opposing Indian rule over the Himalayan region.
  • North Korea. Flood waters have destroyed or damaged thousands of homes, buildings and factories and “submerged, buried or washed away,” about 15,000 hectares of farmland  North Korea’s state-run Korea Central News Agency was reported as saying.
• Day 219 [August 7, 2010]
  • Obama’s War on Afghanistan. Six Americans, a Briton, a German and two Afghan interpreters were killed in an ambush in Badakhshan province in northern Afghanistan, a police official was reported as saying.
  • Obama’s Bloodbath in Afghanistan. A coalition airstrike on Thursday has killed up to 32 civilians in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan, a report said.
• Day 220 [August 8, 2010]
  • Central Europe. Severe flooding caused by torrential rain in central Europe has killed at least a dozen people, cutting off towns and forcing the evacuation of thousands of residents from drowning towns and villages by helicopter, reports say.
  • Leh District, the Indian-administered state of Jammu and Kashmir. Death toll in the Leh flooding reached 150 with at least 500 people unaccounted for, reports. say. “The old Leh town villages of Saboo, Choglamsar and Phyang were badly affected. Choglamsar, where people were buried alive in their sleep, is the worst affected,” a report said.
  • Gansu Province, China. Massive landslides have at least 127 people with another 2,000 reported missing in Gansu Province, NW China.
  • Basra, Iraq.  Death toll from the late Saturday explosion in Iraq’s second-largest city of Basra has risen to 43, Iraqi health officials said, AP reported.
• Day 221 [August 9, 2010]
  • Moscow, Russia. About 350 people are dying in Moscow each day from heat, peat and forest wildfire complications. Death rates in Moscow rose by up to 50% in July, compared with 2009, Moscow’s health chief Andrei Seltsovsky said.
• Day 222 [August 10, 2010]
  • China. NW China’s death toll from mudslide climbs to 702, with more than 1,000 others still missing, a report said.
  • Obama’s Blood Orgy in Afghanistan. UN has reported a 25% increase in that civilian death toll  in Afghanistan, reports say.
• Day 223 [August 11, 2010]
  • Central Europe. Death toll from flooding in central Europe reached 11, and is expected to rise, a blog report said.
• Day 224 [August 12, 2010]
  • Gilgit-Baltistan, Northern Areas, Jammu and Kashmir. Death toll from flash floods that triggered landslides in Gaise village of Diamer district reached at least 47, with another 76 people injured, a report said.
• Day 225 [August 13, 2010]
  • Gansu, Sichuan and Shaanxi provinces, China. At least 19 people have been killed, dozens reported as missing and thousands are isolated as a new wave of flooding and landslides hit western China, state media reported.
  • Cameroon. Death toll from Cameroon cholera reached 170, a report said.
• Day 226 [August 14, 2010]
  • Wisconsin, USA. President B.O. declared Wisconsin a major disaster area in response to  severe storms, flooding and tornadoes from 20 to 24 July, 2010, media reports said. Up to 10,000 homes in Milwaukee County were damaged, with at least 200 sustaining major damage and another five destroyed.
• Day 227 [August 15, 2010]
  • Obama’s War on Afghanistan. The number of occupation troops in Afghanistan has now passed the  2,000 mark [2,002 dead as of posting.] The number of Afghan civilians could be at least 10 times as high, since NATO’s illegal war was waged in 2001.
• Day 228 [August 16, 2010]
  • Punjab Province, Pakistan. Death toll from flooding in Punjab region reached 107, with  more than 8.2  million villagers left homeless and 1.5 million hectares (3.6 million acres) cropland destroyed in the province, local media reported.
  • India-controlled Kashmir. Death toll from flooding in India-controlled Kashmir reached 185, media reported. The actual figure could be more than 500.
  • Honduras: Death toll from Hemorrhagic Dengue Fever reached 57, Honduran Ministry of Health reported.  Dengue fever has infected more than 40,000, with at least 2,000 others afflicted with the hemorrhagic version of the disease.
• Day 229 [August 17, 2010]
  • China. Death toll from NW China landslides reached at least 1,270, with 474 still missing, a report said.
  • Wild, Wild, East (China). Death toll from NE China fireworks factory explosion reached at least 19 , a report said.
  • Iraq. Death toll in Iraqi suicide bombing attack rose to at least 59 with more than 100 others wounded, a report said.
• Day 230 [August 18, 2010]
  • Thailand. More than 50,000 people in Thailand have been infected with dengue fever and at least 67 have died so far this year, the health minister was quoted as saying. Meanwhile, four people in Florida died from Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), a mosquito-borne disease that normally afflicts horses, reports said. “EEE and West Nile virus have been detected in 43 of Florida’s 67 counties, while dengue cases have been confirmed in two south Florida counties, Monroe and Broward, according to the state Department of Health.”
• Day 231 [August 19, 2010]
  • Nigeria. A cholera outbreak in Nigeria’s northern state of Bauchi has claimed 20 more lives, raising the death toll to 67, according to a senior state health official, a report said. “Infection has risen from 1,200 patients to 1,742. The increase in the death and infection figures was as a result of drinking of contaminated water,” the official told AFP.”  Cholera death toll in Bauchi and Borno states have now risen to 107, with another 1,857 people infected by the disease in the two states, the report said.
• Day 232 [August 20, 2010]
  • Obama’s War on Afghanistan. Death toll for U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan reached 32 including 17 U.S. troops.
  • Nigeria. death toll from a cholera outbreak in Nigeria reached 231, the Federal Ministry of Health reported.
  • IL, USA. Carroll, Cook, DuPage, Jo Daviess,  Ogle, Stephenson andWinnebago counties in Illinois have been declared as disaster areas by President B.O. following July 22 to August 7 flooding, reports say.
  • Iowa, USA . Boone County has been declared a disaster area by President B.O., in response to multiple storms that have hit the area since since June 1, 2010, reports say.
• Day 233 [August 21, 2010]
  • China. Another day, another wave of deadly floods in China. The latest flood disaster hit the Liaoning Province in NE China, causing  230 houses to collapse, killing at least 3 people, and forcing more than 50,000 others to be evacuated, a report said.
• Day 234 [August 22, 2010]
  • California, USA. USDA has designated Yuba County, California [also the contiguous Butte, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Sierra, and Sutter counties] as a natural disaster area following losses caused by torrential rains during May 25-27, 2010.
  • Obama’s War on Afghanistan. British forces recorded their 333rd fatality in Afghanistan since 2001.  The soldier was killed in the Nad-e Ali district of Helmand province, a report quoted MoD in London as saying.
  • Obama’s Blood Orgy in Afghanistan. At least 21 people were killed in series of attacks in Afghanistan over a two-day period including Afghan children, policemen, US and NATO troops, authorities were reported as saying.
  • Mogadishu, Somali. At least 10 people were killed in a powerful blast that shook the Somali capital, Mogadishu, reports said.
• Day 235 [August 23, 2010]
  • Thailand. The Thai officials have declared Wang Chin district in the northern province of Phrae a disaster area, reports say.  “Large farms and plantations have been flooded, and many residential areas and state agencies are also under water.” Schools in the region have been closed indefinitely fearing more flash floods.
• Day 236 [August 24, 2010]
  • Nepal. At least 14 people were killed when an Agni Air plane crashed in central Nepal, reports said.
  • China.  Death toll from SW China mudslides rose to 32 with at least 60 others still missing, a report said.
  • Obama’s Bloodbath of Afghan Civilians and NATO soldiers. At least 13 people were killed in the last 24 hours in Afghanistan. Eight civilians were killed and 12 others injured in a NATO raid on a mountain village in the northern province of Baghlan, Afghanistan, reports say. Meanwhile, five NATO troops, including two Americans, two French marines, and a Hungarian soldier weer reportedly killed in various parts of Afghanistan.
• Day 237 [August 25, 2010]
  • Caribbean islands Martinique and Guadeloupe. The death toll from an outbreak of dengue fever in the French Caribbean islands Martinique and Guadeloupe has risen to 18, a report said, with about 60,000 people infected by the vector-borne disease, a report said.
  • China.  At least 42 people were killed  when a Chinese passenger plane with 96 people on board crashed near the Yichun airport in northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, a report said.
  • Nigeria. The death toll from cholera and a related waterborne disease in northern Nigerian has climbed from 231 to 283 in less than seven days, reports say.
• Day 238 [August 26, 2010]
  • Mumbai, India. Death toll from malaria in Mumbai reached 45, with about 1,000 infected with the disease since August 1, reports say.
  • Vietnam. Death toll from storm Mindulle has reached 10, with 64 others injured and one person reported as missing, reports say.
• Day 239 [August 27, 2010]
  • Sindh Province, Pakistan. A further 1m people have been displaced in Sindh, Pakistan over the last two days, as deadly floods continue to move south of the country, UN said. “Of the 1,600 confirmed dead, 1,086 people died in the northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, 183 in northern Gilgit-Baltistan district, 109 in southern Sindh, 103 in central Punjab, 71 in Pakistan-administered Kashmir and 48 in southwestern Baluchistan.” The death toll is expected to rise ‘significantly,’ official say.
  • Northern Turkey. Landslides triggered by heavy rainfall have claimed at least a dozen lives in Northern Turkey, report say.
  • Navotas City, Philippines. A fire consumed more than 300 homes in Navotas City, the Philippines, reports say.
• Day 240 [August 28, 2010]
  • India. Death toll in the Japanese encephalitis (JE) outbreak in  northern India has climbed to at least 211 victims, mostly children, reports say. About 3,500 cases of the disease are expected in one region alone, with the mortality rate of 20 percent. A vector-borne disease, JE virus is transmitted via culex mosquitoes from pigs to humans. Indian health authorities say more than 70 million children nationwide are at risk of JE.
  • Niger. A total of about 200,000 people have been displaced by flooding, which has also killed more than 80,000 farm animals, OCHA said.  “The flooding has aggravated a countrywide food security crisis, in which nearly half of Niger’s 15.2 million people are experiencing hunger after the harvests failed, according to the government.”
• Day 241 [August 29, 2010]
  • Rize, Turkey. A wave of landslides caused by flash floods struck  the Black Sea province of Rize killing at least 12 people, with six others injured, a report said.
  • Colorado, USA. Otero County in Colorado has been designated as a natural disaster area following “losses caused by frost, freezing temperatures, hail and high winds that occurred May 13 to 19,” a report said.
  • Wisconsin, USA. United States Department of Agriculture has declared Eau Claire and Chippewa Counties as a natural-disaster area following an early May frost which destroyed up to 30% of the apple crop, a report said.
    “The four primary counties are Chippewa, Door, Eau Claire and Trempealeau counties. The adjacent ones are Barron, Buffalo, Clark, Dunn, Jackson, Kewaunee, La Crosse, Pepin, Rusk and Taylor counties in Wisconsin and Winona County in Minnesota.”
• Day 242 [August 30, 2010]
  • Nigeria. Death toll in Nigeria’s cholera epidemic has reached at least 435, with thousands of others hospitalized, a report said.
  • Obama’s Blood Orgy in Afghanistan. August death toll of occupying NATO forces in Afghanistan reached 104, with 7 US troops killed in the weekend.  The toll also includes 7 British troops, reports say.
  • Thailand. The city of Lampang has declared 8 of its 13 districts disaster areas following extensive damaged caused by flooding, a govt. report said.
• Day 243 [August 31, 2010]
  • EVIL President Obama’s Blood Orgy in Afghanistan. Death toll of US troops in Afghanistan climbed by 21 in the past five days, reports say.
  • China. Death toll in northwest China’s massive landslide reached tat least 1,467 with another 300 still missing, a report said.
