- Global. Gold price soared above $US1,800 (the immediate-delivery price climbed to $1,814.95 and December-delivery contract rose by 1.9 percent to $1,817.60 an ounce in Singapore this morning), a new record high, exposing the insanity behind human abstractions.
- Utah, USA. The White House has declared a major disaster exists in the State of Utah due to the flooding during the period of April 18 to July 16, 2011.
- Illinois, USA. Carroll, Jo Daviess and Stephenson counties have been declared disaster areas following severe flash flooding that occurred on July 27.
- “Flash floods throughout Northwest Illinois swept away roads, damaged bridges and inundated hundreds of homes,” said Governor Pat Quinn.
