Russian Jet Crash in Sinai: What Really Happened?

Posted by feww on November 2, 2015

State-sponsored terrorism, deadly criminal conspiracy, Airbus catastrophic failure, or human error?

As Russia mourns victims of its deadliest aviation disaster that killed 224 people including 25 children, the big question remains, what really happened?

The Airbus A321-200 (reg. no. EI-ETJ) crashed in Egypt’s Sinai Desert just 20 minutes after it took off Sharm el-Sheikh International Airport, headed towards the Russian city of St Petersburg.

The 19-year-old plane, clocking a total of 56,000 flight hours during almost 21,000 flights, had been operated by Metrojet since 2012.

‘External influence’ caused Sinai plane crash: Airline Official

“We are certain that neither technical malfunction nor pilot error” caused the disaster, said Aleksandr Smirnov, the fleet supervisor for Kogalymavia airline (operating under the name Metrojet), the company that owns the plane.

“The only [reason] for the plane to have been destroyed in mid-air can be specific impact, purely mechanical, physical influence on the aircraft,” Smirnov said.

“There is no such combination of failures of systems which could have led to the plane disintegrating in the air,” he added.

Another airline official has admitted that the plane’s tail had been damaged in 2001 during take-off, but it had been repaired.

The widow of the plane’s co-pilot has reportedly told Russian TV her husband had complained about the aircraft’s “technical condition” prior to the flight.

“It would be wrong to articulate any preliminary guesses or voice statements that are not based on anything,” said a Kremlin spokesman. “Let the investigators produce at least some results first.”

The problem? There are far too many coincidences!
