Background:
Researchers affiliated with FIRE-EARTH report Saudi Arabia was preparing the grounds for spread of Islamist extremism in the UK as early as the late 1970s. ‘Suitable’ targets were handpicked by agents, married to Muslim girls from migrant and refugee families, and provided with financial support for business start-ups in Birmingham, London, Manchester and elsewhere.
