Nishinoshima Volcano (27.247°N, 140.874°E)
The quake struck near Nishinoshima volcano, which resumed eruption on Tuesday. Intermittent eruptions have helped the volcanic island to grow by more than 12-folds in the past two years.
Located about 1,000 kilometers south of Tokyo, Nishinoshima Island currently measures about 2,000 meters across.
In 2013, an undersea eruption formed a new island near Nishinoshima, and continuing lava flows eventually linked the two islands several months ago.
